To Whom It May Concern:
It is with great pleasure that I submit my application for the 2016-2017
elementary classroom teacher position. I seek this new opportunity in your
district because I value the exceptional elementary curricula and emphasis
on student achievement that is the schools focus. During my student
teaching experience back in 2005, it was my cooperating teachers who
inspired me and helped shape the beginning of my success in the field of
education. I believe my instructional abilities, combined with my strong
interpersonal skills and work ethic would greatly benefit your educational
program.
I have over eleven years of teaching experience in the elementary setting,
including seven years as a Gifted Education Teacher in a pull-out resource
program. In May 2011, I received the Virginia Gifted Education Endorsement
and earned a Masters of Education degree with a specialization in diverse
student populations. In my final semester of graduate school with the
University of Mary Washington, I had the rewarding opportunity to work
closely with special needs children. I believe this experience truly helped me
grow into a more effective teacher and ultimately gave me the necessary
skills to be able to work with any child, regardless of his or her background.
I currently teach identified gifted learners in grades K-5 at King Elementary
School and grades K-3 at Leesylvania Elementary in Woodbridge, VA. As an
experienced educator, I implement research-based curriculum and
differentiated instructional strategies to challenge and engage my students.
In a safe, supportive learning environment, we focus on 21st Century Learning
through problem solving, intellectual risk-taking, collaboration, and
meaningful discussion. I also utilize Baldrige tools to teach, assess, and
promote student reflection.
When collaborating with your school districts talented and qualified
education staff, I would offer teaching tools to enhance and enrich state
standards. With experience in leading professional development trainings on
gifted identification and strategies for implementing differentiated
instruction, I can provide valuable resources to classroom teachers and
parents of advanced learners. As a lifelong learner myself, it is also my goal
to continue my own professional development in order to stay current with
the most effective teaching practices.
I look forward to engaging in an open exchange of ways I can utilize my
teaching expertise to positively impact students in your school district and
lead them on the path to excellence. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
