Weekly Update
from the WAES PTA
Thanks to all who came out to enjoy our social at Blackwall Hitch tonight.
Special thanks to the PTA officers--Sydney Lamb, Dani Shuey, Steph Pfund
and Jenn Macris--for organizing.
SCIENCE FAIR VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Volunteers are needed to help with the science fair this Tuesday and
Wednesday at school. Mrs. Facciponti could use two volunteers in the
morning and two in the afternoon on both days. Help is needed to assist her
with getting the students ready for interviews and with handing out folders to
judges. Please email her at lfacciponti@aacps.org if you are available.

TALENT SHOW APRIL 24th
There's nothing that says West Annapolis Elementary more than the home-grown fun of
our annual talent show. If you haven't been before, you MUST check it out Friday, April
24th at 7 p.m. in the team teaching room. The event is free, but we highly recommend
donations to help offset the cost. Orders for videos of the event will be accepted the night
of the show. See you there!
GREENSCAPE APRIL 26th
Mark your calendars for this year's Greenscape event--Sunday, April 26th from 1 to 3 p.m.
We typically clean up and green up out school for spring as part of this citywide event, but
this year we will help clean up and green up the Tucker Street Boat Ramp, right down the
hill from the school at the end of Tucker Street by the Monterrey Street corner of the
school. The boat landing is a public park, so we keep ties with our community by cleaning
up and planting plants provided free from the city. Show up any time during the event,
dressing for outdoor work. If you have gloves, a rake, shovel or hand trowel, bring them

YOUR RECYCLABLES ARE NEEDED
In art the third grade students will be creating various kinds of traditional Mexican
Instruments such as maracas , cabasas , and guiros . To create these instruments
students will need to bring in one or more of the following items (extras are greatly
appreciated!):
**Empty plastic water bottles
**clean empty cans with ridges (soup cans, vegetable cans, etc)
** clean flat wide cans (tuna, dolmas, specialty vegetable)
**bead necklaces (like those used at Mardi Gras) .
ORDER YOUR SCHOOL SUPPLIES ONLINE
Between now and June 30 you may order your school supplies for next year. If you go to
1stDaySchoolSupplies.com and search by our zip code, 21401, you will find our school's
information. Your order will be delivered to the school in time for the start of school this
August. While this is mainly for the ease for parents, the PTA earns a few dollars for every
kit ordered.
