You are responsible for managing a property and maintaining a mob of 200 sheep for the
owner.
You must submit three different feeding plans to the owner of the sheep with a detailed
break down of the feed cost.
Use this website for current grain prices

Summarise each feeding plan and costs and indicate which plan would be the most
suitable and why. Include print outs of data of feeding plans.
Part 2: Answer these questions:
1. Why do farmers consider feeding stock?
2. Explain the difference between feeding for maintenance and production.
3. Apart from mixing your own feed, suggest 2 different over the counter premixes that
could be suitable for the mob of sheep above.
4. Acidosis or bloat is a serious disease. Explain how Acidosis occurs, along with how it
can be both avoided and treated.
5. What is palatability and suggest why molasses is sometimes added?
6. Why are lime and bentonite added to the mix?
7. Determine the meanings of metabolisable energy, dry matter, fibre and crude protein in
relation to feeding animals.
