Students prior knowledge and experience: (Outline what the students already know about this
topic)
"
Students have previously investigated the number line in a positive and negative direction
and understand addition and subtraction of positive and negative integers.
Students have investigated ordered pairs and finding coordinate points in all four quadrants
of the number plane.

Tell students that today for Mental, they will do a quick quiz on two concepts (attached):
1/ Integer addition and subtraction.
2/ Identifying and moving coordinate points on the number plane.
" REMINDER: Write revision on the board of 2 + (-2) = 2 - 2 and 2 - (-2) = 2 + 2
NOTE/ One shows Sum Of and one shows Difference Of
" REMINDER: The position of any point can be represented by an ordered pair of numbers
(x, y). X always goes first, just like in the alphabet.

objectives?)

Lesson Evaluation:
(Reflect on the lesson. What worked? What did not work? What would you change? Why?)
This was my fifth and final lesson with this class and I am going to miss
teaching these boys! They are cheeky, shy, loud, quiet, confident and
hesitant - a very mixed bag.
Todays lesson involved writing revision notes of what we have covered
in the past week. It was a challenging task for many of these students
but they all completed it.
I had to use every tool in my kit to keep them on track. The students
knew exactly what was expected; My voice changed tone; I moved
nearer to students if they became distracted; We stopped to discuss
concepts as we went; I encouraged students to ask and answer each
others questions along the way. It was a bit like climbing a mountain
together and everybody breathed a sigh of relief at the end.
My mentor teacher explained later that an alternative is to teach these
students note taking skills in smaller chunks by doing less, more
frequently. I will take this idea on board in future for students who seem
to struggle with writing for a whole lesson.
