3) Working Principles of Float Regulator:

It consists of a valve connected to a hollow sealed float by means of a lever, mounted
near the top of the tank. The float is often ball-shaped. The valve is connected to the
incoming water supply, and is opened and closed by the lever which has the float
mounted on the end. When the water level rises, the float rises with it, once it rises to a
pre-set level, the mechanism forces the lever to close the valve and shut off the water
flow.

Discussions:
Turn the screw clockwise to raise the float at the end of the arm and increase the amount of
water required to shut off the valve, or turn the screw counter clockwise to lower the arm and
decrease the amount of water required to shut off the valve. So, without turn the setting screw

for 3 turns clockwise direction needed less time to filled up the tank compare to the with turn
the setting screw for 3 turns clockwise direction, its can observed from the graph above.
