Process
Step 1: Review the Interim Plan with TL.
Step 2: Reread observation notes.
Step 3: List 4-6 low-inference findings.
Step 4: List 4-6 correlating potential action steps.
Step 5: Circle the action steps that directly support the Interim
Plan.
Step 6: Star the action steps that will significantly drive student
achievement and/or are worth a 45-minute coaching
conversation.
Step 7: Select an action step and modify it to ensure that its
bite-sized (yet still rigorous).

Characteristics of an Effective Action Step


Aligned - connected to the Interim Plan
Impactful will make a significant impact on student
achievement
Rigorous worth a 45-minute coaching conversation
Strategic targets the root cause

Actionable bite sized enough to be implemented within a


week
Observable can be seen in the classroom/during the lesson
