Empirical Formulae, Molecular Formulae and Gas Calculations

1) Find the empirical formulae of the following compounds which contained:

a) 5.85g K; 2.10g N; 4.80g O.

b) 3.22g Na; 4.48g S; 3.36g O.

c) 22.0% C; 4.6% H; 73.4% Br (by mass).

( Ar H=1; C=12; N=14; O= 16; Na=23; S=32; K=39; Br=80)

2) A hydrocarbon contained 82.76% C and 17.24% H by mass. 1 mole of the

hydrocarbon weighed 58g. Find the molecular formula of the hydrocarbon.

3) Calculate the volume occupied by 0.100g of Hydrogen Chloride (HCl) at RTP.

4) Calculate the mass of 137cm3 of Nitrogen gas (N2) at RTP.
