What current issues in the world does the holocaust make you
think of?
Research the current event and explain how the current issue
relates to the holocaust. Be specific and use examples. Include
research. (1/2-3/4 of a pg)
*Tip* Think of different minority groups that have been

Diary Entry
Create a diary entry from the main characters perspective
about how he/she was feeling, while experiencing events
from the novel
3 separate diary entries, each entry being a welldeveloped paragraphs, totaling -1 pg, the diary entry
must have an authentic look to it (tea staining or burned
edges)

Character change

Life in a Bag

How does the character change from the beginning to the end of
the novel. In the first paragraph, describe the character and
emphasize their personality traits and their view of the world
they live in. In the second paragraph, describe 2-3 significant
events that occurred in the book. In the third paragraph,
describe how these events resulted in the characters personality
changing or their view of the world to change.
In the fourth paragraph, identify one significant event in your life
that has shaped who you are today (positive or negative event).

Identify 5-6 items (or pictures) related to the main

character in the novel. You will need to put the items in
the bag and create a legend that is linked to an
explanation of each items significance. The explanations
need to be written on, or typed onto the back of the bag
(4-5 sentences per item). Each explanation should
include: what the item is, the context of how it was used in
the text and why it is significant to the main character).
The front of the bag should have the title of the novel, a
sketch or found picture of the main character (or what you
visualize the character to look like).

Research Based
Select one of the topics below to research and further your
understanding on the historical time period of the events from
your novel.
-Research Hitlers life and try to explain why Hitler had such hate
towards minority groups (Jews, Gays, Communists)
-Research 2 survivors of the Holocaust. For each survivor,
summarize their lifes story
You must print off two research pages for your topic and

Identify 5-6 items related to the main character in the
novel. You will be displaying the items using Microsoft
publisher, or Smart notebook, or other relevant
applications. Explanations need to be typed our and relate
to each of the items (eg. In caption form- 4-5 sentences
per item). Each explanation should include: what the item
is, the context of how it was used in the text and why it is
significant to the main character)

highlight key information that you used in your writing. Create

point form notes from the highlighted key information
(paraphrasing ideas). This will be used to help you with your
summary.
