Process Components

*Anticipatory Set
Teacher will review the chapter with students. Teacher will explain the importance of
reviewing and summarizing. Teacher will ask students if there are any concepts that
needs to be reviewed.

*State the Objectives (grade-level terms)


We are learning to demonstrate comprehension of fiction texts.
We will determine the important information to support main ideas, opinions and
conclusion.

*Instructional Input or Procedure


Today, I want you all to make inference based on character's thought, action, and
behavior. Teacher reads few pages and explain what is going on in the story. Teacher talk
about the plot, character and theme of the story. Students will be asked to read 2-3
paragraphs. Teacher will ask students to summarize what they just read one by one.
Also teacher will ask them to make prediction about next chapter.

*Modeling
Today they will read a chapter from Frindle. They will analyze the information in that
chapter. They will answer the question that will be asked during the reading.

*Check for Understanding


Teacher will ask students question throughout the chapter. Questions that will be asked
throughout the book are:
What is the most important information?
What did you like about you just read?
What you want to know more about?
Do you have any questions?
*Guided Practice
None for this lesson.

*Independent Practice
Teacher will instruct students to complete the question on Reading notes bookmark
every week.

Assessment
Students will respond to the question on Reading notes bookmark and will be assessed
on that. Teacher uses anecdotal notes to keep track of students performance based on
their answers on sticky note on Reading notes bookmark.

*Closure
Student turn in their sticky notes or My reading notes when they are finished.
Teacher will ask students to give quick review of what they learned in 2-3 sentences.
Teacher will reflect on leaning target with students.

Differentiation Strategies (enrichment, accommodations, remediation, or by learning style).


Since this group is low level reading group, teacher will read the chapter to the group and will
also ask basic level questions. Students will fill out bookmark once a week.

Next time, I will time myself. I went 4 minutes over then the expected time.
