To insure the correct shape of this yoke at the neck edge, one should first provide her- self with a pencil sketch or a paper diagram of a yoke that will adjust itself to her figure; the number of motifs used in the different parts of the yoke can then be laid on this pattern and the necessary number can be gaged thereby, The yoke entire is composed of 2 long sec- tions or sleeve extensions; a front tab or section, and a small section at back: while between these tabs and shoulder pieces, occur the smaller motifs, 3 at each side of back and 5 on cither side of front. With the perpendicular sections all completed and the neck motifs joined and finished at lower edges with scallops, sew the motif bands to the 4 long sections or tabs on the wrong side of the work; just under the projecting scallop. ‘This done, the desired curve and additional strength may be given to the upper or neck edge by overhanding stitch by stitch, with sewing needle and self-colored thread. Join No. 200 for the scallop, finish around the neck the same as for other edges; omitting the s. c. on the bar in the first row, placing 1 s. €. into each space only. Just here let it be said with emphasis that the motifs and sections at different stages must be pinned to a cloth laid over a firm padded surface and pressed well.
