ABC COMMUNITY

December 10, 2011

Dear Clark County School District,
I am writing on behalf of ABC Community School, this is the school I teach at
and love to be at. Our school has been doing great with the technology we have and will
keep doing even better with the new technology we will be receiving someday. I have
noticed throughout the years in my 20years of teaching that technology has come a long
way. If we do not continue to teach our students how to use computers and the many
thing they can do with technology they will be lost in the outside world. Are we not here
to prepare our students for the future?
Technology will keep expanding and if we do not prepare our students they will
be behind in school and in what they want to do once they get into college. Teaching and
Learning with Technology will go a long way in the classroom. Theres a lot of students
that learn better doing hands on activities. Teaching and Learning with technology will
help both the teacher and student to learn more about the new technologies that are
coming up. Letting a student learn on their own, but with the help of a teacher when
needed can help the student be an individual when it comes to learning.
Technology is the application of resources and knowledge to solve problems and
meet human needs. Technology includes, but is not limited to, the use of computers. Society
needs people adept at using technology. Advances in technology affect all of earths living
and nonliving systems. It is vital that students understand the interrelationships of technology,
the environment and human activity. We should incorporate technology as students develop
critical thinking skills and strategies in their classrooms. Understanding that students learn in
different ways, we can help them use technology as a means to apply academics within a
real-world context. Society needs individuals who are literate in technology and possess the
skills that enable them to participate in a high-performance work force that adapts readily too
constantly. (Nevada Computer and Technology Education Standards

In the end, students are our future and without Teaching and Learning with
Technology our students will be lost in the world of technology, which technology is used
in every career field and everywhere around the world.
Thank You,

Identification of Standards

Learning with Technology at the Elementary grade level helps the student learn
experiences to build foundations for later learning. Using the computer skills and
technology concepts provide a great amount of opportunity for students to apply
knowledge through the design and use of materials and processes, to systematically solve
real problems, and to gain new knowledge.
By grade 3 students will know and will be able to locate and use letters on the
keyboard with both their left and right hand. They will also learn how to create a
document such as a word document to be able to create and edit their own writing. They
will know how to edit their skills and also learn how to search the database to locate
specific information such as electronic resources, and anything they need to be able to
find a specific place such as a library.
Students will learn how to do a spreadsheet as well as a graph on the computer.
Students will learn how to solve problems using technology tools and research a certain
topic. Identify and examine organizational formats using a technology tool
to arrange information.
All or some of these standards will be met with my lesson plan attached. But we
have many other lesson plans that will meet all of these standards.
