State Objectives
Students will demonstrate proper use of the D2L platform after a short lecture. Students will
be put into groups of 2 and given a discussion question to respond to by me, and then must create
their own question based on the lecture that other groups will respond to for a total of 25 points.
Students must attain a score of at least 18/25 (72%) in order to pass. Students must also complete and
submit a quiz, of which they will receive 5 daily participation points.
Select Methods, Media, , and Materials
All methods, media, and materials needed for the lesson are listed. Give rationales why these selected
methods, media and materials are appropriate for your lesson.
1. What are the methods (more than 2)? Direct instruction of D2L interface, and on hands practice
with D2L.
2. What are the media (EX: flip chart, PowerPoint Slide, computer-based tools, etc.) Smartboard
projection of D2L (for lecture).
3. What are the materials (ex: textbook - the book title, Educational Game, WebQuest, etc.) D2L,
outline, and Chromebook for discussion/quiz.
Utilize Media, Materials, and Methods
For each listed above, details of how they will be implemented into the lesson to enhance learning
with using 5Ps.
1. Preview the materials: What you need to preview?
I will check to make sure all Chromebooks are in working order (turn on, log in, D2L works).
2. Prepare the materials: What things need to prepare before the lesson?
I will need to prepare a discussion question, quiz, and an outline for the students to follow.
3. Prepare the environment: Where the learning takes place? How about the seating, lightening,

temperature of that place?

Students will remain in assigned seats, with constant temp and lighting throughout the quiz, as the
quiz will take place in our classroom.
4. Prepare the learners: How you engage students in learning during the warm-up section?
5. Provide the learning experiences: Outline the Require Learner Participation section.
I will attain students interest by helping them log onto their new D2L classroom portal.
Require Learner Participation
Pass out chromebooks and log on (10 min.)
Debrief (5 min.)
Discussion: What is D2L? (10 min.)
Direct Instruction: Following the handout, log on to D2L and show students discussion board, D2L
classroom, and what icons mean (10 min.)
Active Participation: Respond to teacher question on D2L (10 min.)
Guided Practice: With a partner, students will ask a question about using D2L. Each group will
respond to a given question. (10 min.)
Follow up: Students will take a quiz on what they have learned about the basics of the D2L interface,
via D2L.
Evaluate & Revise
Evaluation methods for each of the following are included:
1. Student Performance
See below (25 points)
2. Media Effectiveness
D2L works well, and Chromebooks are in functioning order.
3. Instructor Performance
If about 75% of the class understood the objectives (how to use D2L), I consider my job welldone. I will have students give feedback on the lesson after the quiz has been taken, so that I
know how to improve for the next time
Criterion
Discussion response to Mr.
Polson (10 points)
Discussion question (5 points)
Response to students (10
