D211 Gender Identity/Development Sessions

.a closer look
We can all agree that the topic of Transgenderism/Gender Identity is a controversial one with
multiple viewpoints. Given this reality, parents have a right to expect that any Community
Education on this issue would include all reasonable viewpoints from reputable
authorities/sources, providing for a balanced approach. Unfortunately, D211 has chosen to
offer you a one-sided presentation this evening, declining to include very pertinent research,
facts, opinions from reputable sources provided them prior to finalizing tonights
presentation.
Points to consider:
D211 has chosen four consultants to assemble tonights presentation, none of whom are
physicians, psychiatrists, researchers: instead all are from a network of groups pushing their
extreme views on the rest of us:
Carolyn Wahlskog, community organizer and social worker
www.youth-outlook.org/wordpress/test/staff/
Jennifer Leininger, a Gender and Sex Development Specialist whose majors were in Marketing
and Theatre
www.luriechildrens.org/en-us/care-services/specialties-services/genderprogram/specialists/Pages/index.aspx
Owen Daniel-McCarter, helped co-found a national student-run conference on transgender
identity and trans activism (HE ALSO SPOKE AGAINST PRIVACY, IN FAVOR OF THE OCR
AGREEMENT, DURING PUBLIC COMMENT AT a D211 BOARD MTG, and is now going to
educate us on this topicis this not a conflict of interest?) www.illinoissafeschools.org/staff-bios
David Fischer, a Program Director for a group who promotes social justice and challenge
inequities in health and health care www.hmprg.org/About+Us/Staff
Some of the sources we provided/suggested to D211 were: (in letters/articles)
American College of Pediatricians, a national organization of pediatricians and other healthcare
professionals dedicated to the health and well-being of children
Keith Ablow, one of Americas leading psychiatrists, board certified in adolescent psychiatry
A South Dakota mother, advocating for the silent victims of sexual assault who suffer greatly from
ill-conceived gender identity policies
Dr. Ken Zucker, one of the worlds foremost authorities on gender identity issues in children and
adolescents
Alice Dreger, a bioethicist and professor at Northwestern Universitys Feinberg School of
Medicine in Chicago. She is a strong supporter of transgender rights, but thinks the pendulum
has swung too far.
Did you know? D211 has a Board policy Teaching About Controversial Issues (see D211 website)
citing the necessity of an unbiased, impartial handling of controversial issues. Do you think they
will follow their own policy tonight based on this lineup of speakers?
D211 has hired Ms. Leininger to be the Districts gender identity expert consultant. Her job is to
educate students/parents by indoctrination using this one-sided approach, courtesy of our tax

dollars.
Courts across the country recognize that there is a constitutional right to bodily privacy- to
not be viewed unclothed by those of the opposite sex. It has been upheld for children at school,
employees at work, and even convicted felons in prison. It doesnt matter whether a male in the girls
bathroom identifies as a male or female; if he is biologically a male, his presence immediately
violates the rights of every girl sharing facilities with him. So, why does D211 choose to disregard
this legal precedent with its approval of the OCR agreement and with choosing to host
presentations like this? (These presentations are not required by the OCR agreement.)
For girls not wanting to be viewed by the opposite sex while changing clothes out in the open,
they are told to utilize one of the privacy stalls. HOWEVER, the number of stalls is completely
INSUFFICIENT for the number of girls in the locker room. They are then told they can change
outside the locker room in a stall with a toilet or walk quite a distance to the nurse's office. Isnt this
the treatment of girls Title IX originally sought to end? Title IX cannot be re-written at the

whim of unelected Washington bureaucrats; it must go through Congress. This lawless

reinterpretation hurts the very people it was intended to help.
The D211 Administration/Board was provided a Student Physical Privacy Policy used by other
school districts throughout our country. Instead of adopting this thoughtful policy that promotes
respectful tolerance, the District chose to disrespect privacy rights and is now attempting to
re-educate parents with radical ideological viewpoints in these presentations. Is this unbiased?
Does it respect parental rights?
According to the CDC, one in four girls and one in six boys (approximately 20% of all children) will
be sexually abused by 18 years of age. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a daily reality for
these children. Abolishing sex-segregated private areas will not only cause a baseline
elevated level of anxiety among all students, it may also trigger debilitating PTSD symptoms
in survivors of sexual abuse.is that policy respectful of ALL or just the chosen?
Forcing students to use the restroom with members of the opposite sex harms students by
violating their right to privacy and making them participate in situations that most adults would object
to. Accommodating students struggling with gender confusion by providing them a single-stall
restroom, changing room, or a similar alternative gives them a private, safe location and avoids
violating the rights of others. So, why is D211 choosing to violate the rights of over 99% of
students
attending their schools?
We are supportive of transgender students, their desire for special accommodations and

we oppose any bullying whatsoever. However, demands for access to every space that
others do not get is not equal access, it is EXTRA access. These demands are not
respectful of others, including the sexually abused and those with special needs who may
have an extremely difficult time with being seen by the opposite sex in these intimate
spaces.
In promoting this presentation, D211 notes their commitment to an inclusive school

culture. This is clearly not the case, in their dismissive attitude toward numerous facts and
parental involvement. We support true inclusivity, when ALL viewpoints are allowed.
