By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

(P) TSWBAT perform a basketball shot using the key points provided at the beginning
of the lesson with 70% success rate.

TSWBAT identify the key points of how to shoot a basketball with their team
throughout the lesson by saying them out loud when asked by the teacher.
(A) TSWBAT show good sportsmanship for their teammates and their opponent while still
being competitive throughout the lesson.

I will enforce the safety of each activity by stopping play and reinforcing the boundaries
if students continue to go outside of them.
I will have proper teacher positioning using back to the wall so I can see all the students
at once.
I will have a loud voice so that all students can hear my directions.

Make sure to stay inside the boundaries because we are sharing the gym with another
class this will be important for safety of our students and the students in the other class.

Transition: Students will be told to go


put on a pennie of a certain color and
go to a basket. There will be 3 groups of
3 or 2 groups of three and 1 group of
two.
Activity 1: Students will have two balls
in the group of three and one ball in the
group of two. The people with the
basketballs will be taking shots from hot
spots that are inside of the three point
arc. The person that does not have the
ball will rebound a ball and then go
shoot. It does not matter if the shot is
made or not. Whoever is left without a
ball will then go and rebound the ball.

more experience can challenge

select three students to demonstrate
the activity in front of the class so

Activity 2: Students will have the

basketball game. There will be two
students on one team wearing the same

team wearing a different color pinny.
The extra student will help keep score
or referee the game using a whistle.

Questions: The teacher will ask the


students what rules they know for a
basketball game.
Anticipated Response: No walking or
running without dribbling. Inside the arc
is two points and outside is three points.
The game will be up to 7 for time

Rules: This is a half court game. You


must take the ball back like it is you
running to the other side of the court.
Here we will tell the rules that were not
said but the students. We will call fouls
or the ref, but you can also call your
own fouls.
Safety: DO Not try to jump over people
trying to dunk the ball or get a rebound.
Dont try to constantly foul people if
they are getting passed you.
Extend down: Have the students only
try and shoot inside of the three point
line if they are having a lot of trouble
getting the ball in.
Extend up: Give the students certain
spots on the court that could be worth
more points than a regular basket.
Transition: Students will walk back into
a semi circle for the closure.
Closure: I need someone to tell me the
key points for shooting a basketball.
(P) I need someone to demonstrate how
to use the key points of shooting.
