Teacher Performance Objectives During the lesson the teacher will:


Speak loud enough for students to hear. Teacher will make sure volume is sufficient
by asking students questions, checking for understanding, and asking if all can hear.
Use the whistle effectively by using it loudly and only when needed. (To End Game
Play)
Special Considerations:
Everyone in class has to be aware of other students around them and the
volleyballs in the air and on the ground.
Students have to communicate about who they are passing to and to anyone they
may not mean to pass to if the volleyball ends up out of control.
Students have to be aware of where the net is.
Students have to watch out for pencils and papers on the ground.

Changing (Locker Room)


Transition
Students will gather in the gymnasium and Ms. Murray and
Coach Pod will take attendance.
Warm Up
Students will start their Student Led warm up.

Introduction
13 - 15 Focus of the Day: Volleyball Tournament Games
Rules:
Min

Always say the score before serving your score then the
opponents score.

Points can only be scored when youre serving.


Server MUST be behind the line.(Overhand OR Underhand) VBall
cant hit anything on serve but can hit the net during play.
Any obstacle on the court is out of bounds.
If VBall lands on boundary line, its in.
VBall must be hit a minimum of 2 times and a max of 3 times
before it is hit over the net.
Block doesnt count as a hit.
Same person can NOT hit the VBall twice in a row.
Can NOT touch the net.
Must rotate properly. (Z Pattern)
Game Ends on Whistle. Point in play is null and void.
Event of a tie, captains with rock, paper, scissor for serve.

Safety:
Always keep head up.
Make sure other team is ready before volleyball is served (Have
Eye Contact and Say Score).
Watch out for volleyballs (on ground or in air), other students,
and other people!

Student Demo:

Unnecessary because students will already have knowledge of


tournament game play. Only needed if Coach Pod or Ms. Murray
want us to review a certain skill.

Transition
One student from each game will get a volleyball from the
bag on the side of the court. The rest of the teams will go
to their court and get set up.

Tournament Games
Students will play tournament games. They will play each
game for a certain period of time (will be determined
exactly when we see how much class time is remaining
the day of) and will rotate through. Score will be kept.
Time will be monitored. Teachers will officiate games and
give appropriate feedback.

Higher Toss of Overhand Serve
Quicker Arm Speed on Overhand Serve
Contact VBall at Forearms on Bump
More Height on the Set to Give Teammate Response Time
Etc.
Transition
Students will sit down on their courts. One student from
each group will put away the volleyball and get a task
sheet and pencil for the group.

Closure
Students will complete task sheet which reflects on their
job passing as a team. Teacher will guide students through
this if necessary. This will close out lesson and assess
students on their understanding of how successful their
passes were and why.
