EMOTION

REVOLUTION

Nowadays youth goes through a lot of problems and most of these problems come
with the modern world, social media ( like Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram,
and others used) and the prejudices of this age. One very important problem is the
ignorance about feelings, Why is the world of this days so cold and cruel?
The Emotion Revolution is the campaign that has been touring in high schools and
important universities around the United States of America. Its about the struggle
most of the teenagers are going through this days, because social media has
become a massive online-bullying supporter in a indirect way. This brings such
negative thoughts to all the people but most to the younger, because they make us
believe theres a certain way to dress, to act, in taste of music, fashion, even about
your body and preferences. What does this has to do with the emotions? Well, if
one person actually believes in this and cant find the way to fit, how do they feel?
Outcast. Because were being taught to ignore or feelings and just repress them,
so people becomes colder and less tolerant to certain things. We completely forget
other have feelings and even us but were in deed ignoring them just to fit.
This campaign has been doing the job of taking this information to the young
people to make a change in the social media. Internet is the place where the
teenagers spend most of their time, so if we make consciousness about the
struggle and let them now that feelings matter, since were free to be whoever we
want to and have the right to not agree with everybody. Emotional Revolution went
viral on Twitter with the hashtag #IAmNotJust and on Facebook with information
and posts about other peoples stories. Besides the tour, some celebrities were
interested and join the tour and also spreading the word on interviews and social
apps. Since the problem eradicates in the media most the word had been done
there. But announces on television and publicity as posters are all other the
educational institutes. The word has been spread so much that places like
Facebook made their post restrictions more serious and asking for a kinder
vocabulary. Twitter is not an exception, where the mean comments are deleted.
People can report more easily negative account and the social media is now more
often used to help other people, even if you dont know them but we all matter and
people are starting to understand that even more and more.
The Emotional Revolution doesnt stop there, with The Born This Way Foundation
have touched some other problems, like raped, bullying, insecurities and
acceptation but not just in the media. I think its a wonderful work that theyre doing
and Ive joined the revolution being a kinder and delicate user of the media, the
more pacific we are, the better we treat each other and the braver we are.
