The area of a rectangular plot is 528 m2. The length of the plot (in metres) is one more
than twice its breadth. We need to find the length and breadth of the plot.
If two black kings and two red aces are removed from a deck of 52 cards and then well
shuffled. One card is selected from the remaining. Find the probability of getting:

A triangle ABC is drawn to circumscribe a circle of


radius 4 cm such that the segments BD and DC into
which BC is divided by the point of contact D,
are of lengths 8 cm and 6 cm respectively (see Fig).
Find the sides AB and AC.

Draw a triangle ABC with side BC = 6 cm, AB = 5 cm and ABC = 60. Then construct a
triangle whose sides are of the corresponding sides of the triangle ABC.
A chord of a circle of radius 15 cm subtends an angle of 60 at the centre. Find the areas of
the corresponding minor and major segments of the circle. (Use = 3.14 and 3 =
1.73)
Find the ratio in which the line segment joining A(1, 5) and B( 4, 5) is divided by the xaxis. Also find the coordinates of the point of division.
Find the value of k, for which the points (8, 1), (k, 4), (2, 5) are collinear.
In Figure, OACB is a quadrant of a circle with

hours less than the smaller one to fill the tank separately. Find the time in which each tap
can separately fill the tank.
A median of a triangle divides it into two triangles of equal areas. Verify this result for ABC
whose vertices are A(4, 6), B(3, 2) and C(5, 2).
The angle of elevation of the top of a building from the foot of the tower is 30 and the
angle of elevation of the top of the tower from the foot of the building is 60. If the tower is
50 m high, find the height of the building.
PQ is a chord of length 8 cm of a circle of radius 5 cm. The tangents at P and Q intersect at
a point T. Find the length TP.
Find the area of the shaded region in Figure,
where a circular arc of radius 6 cm has

If the sum of first 7 terms of an AP is 49 and that of 17 terms is 289, find the sum of first n
terms.
A tent is in the shape of a cylinder surmounted by a conical top. If the height and diameter
of the cylindrical part are 2.1 m and 4 m respectively, and the slant height of the top is 2.8
m, find the area of the canvas used for making the tent. Also, find the cost of the canvas of
the tent at the rate of Rs 500 per m2. (Note that the base of the tent will not be covered
with canvas.)
A die is thrown twice. What is the probability that i) 5 will not come up either time? ii) the
sum of the two numbers appearing on the top of the dice is 13
Rs 1200 were distributed equally among a certain number of students. Had there
been 8 more students each would have received Rs 5 less. Find the number of
students.
