Introduction:
Focus of the day: Learn basic skills of water
polo and what tools students need to play.
-Purpose: Water polo is an intense olympic
sport that has been around since the mid
1800s. It is a different kind of competitive
game that students will love.
- Start and stop signal: One long whistle to
stop and two short whistles to go.
- Safety: Students must tell the teacher if they
are not comfortable with swimming. Students
that are comfortable in the deep end may not
go under or mess around with other students
in the deep end. Students must not jump on
top of each other and cannot dunk each other
under water.
Swimming Skills:
Head up freestyle: Small controlled flutter
kicks while arms rotate like windmills, bent at
the elbow. Keep head up and out of the water
to focus on the ball.
Backstroke: Used while defending your
teams goal, Lay on your back while flutter
