THE PILOTS WIFE

17/20 = 20

The pilots wife is a novel by Anita Shreve, and was

published / or : ..Anita Shreve published in 1998 by
Aback Bay Book. It is one of her most successful books,
besides it is among Oprahs Book Club selection.
It is an absorbing story about how much we can really
know(w.o. = relative clause) about our (w.w) partner, and
when to be sure that our version of the reality is the unique.

A wife receives in the middle of the night the awful news

that her husband has died. He was a pilot, it seems that his
plane has exploded, somewhere in the air

during a

transatlantic flight. One hundred and three people died.

From that episode, the author describes how the wife,
Kathryn, dazed by the rumours and news about the accident
causes, tries to keep her strength up despite the grief. The media
are focused on the tragedy at both sides of the Atlantic Ocean
and hungry for details start to publish mysterious rumours about
her husband. Furthermore, as her daughter Mattie, who is

only fifteen, is completely out of control because of the shock,

she needs also to deal with the teenager sorrow.
While the airline tries to find the reason for the accident,
and the investigation continues, bizarre secrets about her
husband come out. First, she confronts her new situation
ignoring the rumours and starts to organize her new life despite
the grief, focusing on her daughters healing process, arranging
domestic chores, bank documents, her husband clerical
belongings.and then, by chance, she discovers hidden
withdrawals, poems, postcards that were not sent to her, hotel
nights not spent with her
Determined, she set out to tug a threat that leads her to
unravel the true story of her marriage and the double life the
pilot had been running.

The last part(subject) of the book is really gripping

and I recommend that novel, because it is highly readable and
the enticing plot really absorbs you. It is the only title I have
read by the author but I think it is worth reading the rest of
the novels.
