Islamic Phobia Facing History Activity

On Wednesday February 10, 2016, we had a Facing History Activity that focused on
Islamic Phobia. Islamic phobia is when a person who is most likely not Islamic judges or makes
a stereotype about an Islamic person. During this activity the teachers taught us about what
Islamic phobia is and how it affects our society today.
During this activity I noticed that the teachers were very informative. I also noticed that
there were Islamic students in the class and they were very into the presentation and probably
thought that the information about Islamic phobia was important for other students to learn
about.
The activity felt awkward at first because I know some people that have made
assumptions about Islamic people if they seen them in public. But, I understand why some
people may make an assumptions about Islamic people; partially because of what happened in
9/11.
During this activity, I learned about Islamic phobia and how a person that does not know
an Islamic person and could possibly make an assumption about them. I did not contribute during
the activity because I was tired and did not feel like talking or sharing what I was thinking.
