Assignment #1
Prompt #1: Summarize your results and any particular aha moments that
you may have had when working through the interests-based assessments
on the AzCIS website. What particular career clusters stuck out to you? With
respect to the interest profiler, how did your interests score in the artistic /
conventional / enterprising / investigative / realistic / social categories? How
could you use interests-based assessments to help move your career and
your life forward? If you have taken any other interests-based assessments
in the past, please comment on those, and any relevant connections to the
AzCIS assessments.
My results from the Interest Profiler revealed that I have a high interest within
the Realistic category where I scored 16 and Investigative category where I
scored 14. Rounding out the assessment I scored 10 in Social, 7 in
Enterprising, 5 in Conventional, and 4 in Artistic. According to the Career
Cluster, I scored highest in Manufacturing followed by Health Science and
Information Technology. My results for the interest based assessments turned
out pretty much as I anticipated. Being in my mid 30s and working in my
career for over 18 years, I have done a lot of self refection and discovery. My
only aha moment was just how dis-interested I am in the artistic category.
While I enjoy and very much appreciate the arts in terms of being a
spectator, God just didnt bless with a whole lot or artistic talent. What is
really interesting is that although I know my interests very well, I couldnt tell
you what my occupational passion in life is. I know that I am enjoy working
with my hands and breathing new life into things so my best guess would be
someone who buys run down properties and renovates them to their former
glory. I dont know that these interest based assessment shined any new light
on areas of interest for me, but they did confirm my own perceptions of what
is interesting to me. I can use this to continue to focus on these areas in
attempting to discover what it is I am truly passionate about.
Prompt #2: Summarize your results and any particular aha moments that
you may have had when working through the skills / work values-based
assessments through the AzCIS website. What are your top skills? Are these
the skills that you highlighted in your e-portfolio (from OGL 498 Pro-Seminar
I)? Comment on any differences there, and how you might improve, or add
to, the skills section of your e-portfolio based on this new perspective. Also,
be sure to comment on your Holland Personality Types scores, and how your
skills and interests compared in that regard. How could you use skills-based
assessments to help move your career and your life forward? If you have
