Appearance vs reality

The angry appearance of Laertes is opposite with the reality, and it is

depicted by Laertess action and in conversation with Claudius because
he wants to use his father dead to have the kings position.

Point: In action , Laertes uses all his forces to put the pressure on the king to leave the
throne.

Proof:

The ocean, overpeering of his list,

Eats not the flats with more impetuous haste

Than young Laertes, in ariotous head,

Oebears your officers.( Shakespeares, p80-81,line 99-101)

Analysis:

Using imagery to describe how extremely angry of Laertes,

He wants to use everything he has to revenge Claudius

In reality, the King has to leave the throne for his purpose.

Laertes uses informal language to remind the dead of his father in

to lower Claudiuss position.

wants to be higher position than Claudius.

Conclusion

Laertes demonstrate his madness through his action and offending

language to Claudius for mainly taking the throne, not for revenging
his father dead.

Revenge

1st point: king say to Laertes you have to know your friends and enemies

if you desire to know the certainty

Of your dear father Ist writ in your revenge

That, swoopstake,you will draw both friend and foe,

King says to Laertes that he will prove

that who killed Polonius
