Instructional Coach
To Whom It May Concern:
I am an educator with multiple years of experience in upper elementary grades and I am seeking a
position that allows me to use my personal and professional strengths in an administrative capacity. I have
been fortunate enough to have worked with principals who took the time to help mentor me and who led
by example. At this stage in my career, I believe that I can make the greatest difference by utilizing these
strengths in a way that benefits a campus. I am determined and proactive, a trait that has enabled me to
follow through with tasks and responsibilities while allowing for reflection and refinement with the goal
to make future improvements. I am a problem-solver and conflict-resolver and I have been able to use
these qualities to diffuse conflicts among students, parents, and even colleagues. I am creative,
enthusiastic, and flexible and these characteristics have allowed me the freedom to engage my students in
the use of multiple platforms while giving them the freedom to succeed, reflect, and refine upon their own
strengths and weaknesses. I am thorough and meticulous and pay close attention to written and verbal
details. And, I am a scholar and practitioner - trained and certified in elementary education, technology
integration, and administration. These are but some of the reasons why I would make an optimal addition
to your campus in the capacity of an instructional coach.
My goal to provide an atmosphere where students have the foundation necessary to be creative,
productive pupils readily able to learn new information while synthesizing prior knowledge. My aim is to
show that education is a life-altering choice that can propel individual lives, communities, and enhance
the world. I have the classroom experience and the education as a foundational tool but just as
importantly, I have the mindset that all students have the right to a chance at a fulfilling life and that
gateway is through a strong education that promotes collaborative and independent learning, synthesis of
information through multiple platforms, data collection and analysis, and problem solving through
creativity. These are among the reasons why I should be your choice as an instructional coach.
I have taught in Horry County Schools in grades 3-5 and hold certifications as an elementary
teacher (grades 2-6) and as a principal (tier 1). My position as an educator has enabled me to challenge
students while encouraging their personal growth at school and in life. I have worked within multiple
grade levels and have experience with data, students, parents, and administrators in various grades and
with multiple educators. This has allowed me to develop and strengthen my professional base through
collaboration with multiple stakeholders throughout the grade-level continuum.
As instructional coach, my objective is to help promote student achievement, support the
districts vision of excellence, and to maintain an environment conducive to learning new and existing
modes of communication while supporting the principal, teachers, staff, and students. With student
achievement as the primary focus, building relationships, differentiated instructional practices through
reflective and intentional goal-setting, and data collection and analysis are essential to the continuous
endeavor essential to promote student - potential through rigorous and consistent academic endeavors.
I would welcome an interview and hope to hear from you at a suitable time. Thank you for your
time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Wendy McDonald, Ph.D
