volunteer-run organization devoted to enabling adults who have joined us from other
cultures to read, write, and speak American English more effectively. Tutors are
trained by the Link to Literacy Coordinator and matched with a student. Students
meet with their assigned tutors one to two hours a week at the Library. For more

LOWELL COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER: Seeks volunteers to spend time
reading to children in English, Spanish, Khmer or Portuguese, one hour per week at

LOWELL HUMANE SOCIETY: Needs volunteers to transport animals to and from
various veterinarian and grooming appointments. Must have a reliable vehicle with
the ability to safely fit 7-10 cat carriers for transport. For more information on

LOWELL PARKS & CONSERVATION TRUST: Seeking volunteers to help with a
variety of projects: lock tending for the Concord River, land stewardship and office

LOWELL SENIOR CENTER: In conjunction with UMass Lowell, seeking
volunteers for "Lowell Seniors Count," a door-to-door census and needs assignment
of all adults 60 and over living in Lowell. Flexible hours, no long term commitment

MOBILE PANTRY: The Mobile Pantry Program of the Merrimack Valley Food Bank
is seeking volunteers to work inside the warehouse sorting and bagging groceries to
be delivered to homebound elderly and disabled residents of Greater Lowell. Morning
hours available for warehouse positions. Volunteers also needed to deliver the

OPEN PANTRY OF GREATER LOWELL: Volunteers needed to help bag food
orders, stock shelves, and reception desk, 9 a.m.-noon, Tues.-Thurs.; Wed., 5:30-7

RAPE CRISIS COUNSELOR: Seeking volunteer counselors to support survivors of
sexual violence on the 24-hour hotline, at courts and hospitals, and do community

R.A.R.A. (RETARDED ADULT REHABILITATIVE ASSOCIATION INC.):
