2. Implementation

Including a measure of the SMART goals

is important. Without clearly defined goals
it is difficult to reach your target.
Timelines are a critical element. The
characteristics between Exemplary and
Acceptable ratings are quite close.
"Concise" explanation may be open to
interpretation by rater. (Check for spelling
errors)

Providing staff with professional

development prior to students receiving
Chromebooks is a key factor. The
characteristics between Exemplary and
Acceptable ratings are quite close.
"Detailed" calendar may be open to
interpretation by rater.

Specific scoring guidelines for this

category will make it easier for raters to be
consistent. Parents are important
stakeholders to include for a successful
rollout.
Durability is important when users are
handling technology in different
environments. "Surviving a fall" may be a
characteristic identified by a Chromebook
manufacturer but not very reliable in real
world usage.

Having appropriate software that allows

for differentiation and is engaging helps
with buy in from the users. You mention
"intervention". It was not clear if you
meant "help menu or tech support" or
actual intervention software. (Check for
spelling errors)
Using terms such as superior and decent
leave room for a rater's interpretation. It
maybe difficult to have consistency
between Exemplary and Acceptable
ratings.

2.4 Evaluation
Frequency

evaluation every quarter to assess
the program. The district makes an
necessary changes based upon the

based on assessment data.

2.5 Clear
Expectations

Expectations and guidelines on the

implementation by teachers and
student use, are clearly stated and
defined in the plan.

The district purchased a screen

monitoring system for teachers to
ensure all students are safe and on
task. The security software protect
the students from viruses. Student
and parents will sign a contract
to prevent cyber bullying.

The disctrict purchased a screen

monitoring system for teachers
for the first year only. The security
software protects students from
most viruses. It is suggested
that students and parents sign

bullying.

software protects students from
some viruses. It is optional for
students and parents to sign

bullying.

The disctrict did not purchase a

screen monitoring system for
teachers. The security
software is not overly protective.
Students are parents are not given
a cyber bullying prevention contract
to sign.

3.2 Additional
Security
Considerations

The Chromebook has the district's

name etched in the cover to
prevent
theft. Parents signed a letter of
agreement to cover the loss or
excessive damage to a
Chromebook. Students and
parentssign an acceptable use
policy to be
enforced by the school
administration.

3.3 Budget
Considerations

expenditures for staff time &
training, initial set-up of the

upgrades.

district will not necessarily cover the
costs of electronic materials.

The Board will not allocate yearly

funds to cover the costs of new IT
employees, technology integration
coaches to assist the teachers, or
the costs of purchasing
eBooks, materials, etc.

You may want to have PD timeline and

PD plan with the same 12 month time
frame. Getting teacher input for PD topics
will make the training more meaningful.
Continuous and sporadic could be more
clearly defined based on your timeline.
(Check for spelling errors)

Well done - clear and specific.

Good idea to get input from all the

stakeholders. (Check for spelling errors)
The district does neither a formative
or summative assessment. The
district makes no changes to the
program.

Expectations and guidelines on the

implementation by teachers and
student use, are not stated or
defined in the plan.

Great idea for formative assessments to

be conducted on a recurring basis and
locate/resolve issues early. Very specific
guidelines!
Vaguely stated and defined seem to
contradict each other. Perhaps use just
one descriptor.

Budget
Considerations

The Board will allocate funds every

the yearly prices of purchasing

Great idea to have students and parents

Great ways to address several other

security concerns under Exemplary. Key
details to keep in mind prior to
implementation instead of reacting when a
situation occurs. (Check spacing)
Specific and including upgrades is
important. You may want to specify
hardware and/or software, both are
needed. With the rapid change in
technology this is a key element to
include.

Again great ways to address several other

budget concerns that should be
addressed under Exemplary.

Overall
Comments

Overall the topics/categories you selected were very good. Being more specific in several areas, as mentioned above, would give clarity to the
evaluation. The sections where you were specific, clear and detailed would be easy for raters to provide a consistent evaluation. You should also
consider using the spell check tool on the spreadsheet. It doesn't indicate errors as you type, but will check your whole document. Consider
dividing the teacher and student expectations into two separate categories for clear definitions for each stakeholder. You may also want to consider
a needs assessment for this technology tool.
