Rogers, A. (2010) Trinity College Gawler 2010 Yearbook

Design Brief
Although every creative project is unique, whether large or small, complicated or simple, each one
requires a brief. Before any work can be commenced we need to confirm the parameters, goals and
restrictions.
Traditionally, briefs have varied in format, from casual discussions or napkin-sketches, to detailed emails. But in our experience the best briefs are the ones that provide us with certain key pieces of
information. The guide below will prompt you to provide the most useful pieces of information, whether
the answers are short or long or not applicable, and will enable us to begin finding a solution to your
communication challenge.
Please also remember, the more information you provide, the more thorough our thinking can be and
hopefully the better our solution will be.
Please supply:
Project type and title: 2017 Trinity College Yearbook
The client has requested the design and production of a cover for next year College wide production of
the Yearbook.
You are required to produce a:
-

A4 Front Cover
A4 Back Cover

Project background (relevant company/product/service information):

Trinity College produces an annual yearbook that captures the various events from the different
campuses of Blakeview, Gawler River, North, South and Senior Campus. It is the largest yearbook in the
Southern Hemisphere and is used not only as a keepsake and a record of events but also a promotional
device for prospective parents, students and teachers.
Project objectives/purpose(s)/desired response:
Trinity College has traditionally produced a yearbook that serves more as a record of events rather than
a product to be enjoyed by the student, teacher and parent body. In 2010 a different focus was
requested and the subsequent publication was full coloured and featured much more dynamic pages
that engaged the target audience.
Target audience:
The target audience will be the students staff and parents associated with Trinity College but with an
eye on prospective parents and students and teachers.
Work required (creative concepts, design, artwork, copywriting, etc):
1 front cover
1 back cover
1 spine
Chosen images will be professionally printed.
A folio of backup work must also be submitted for assessment.
Specific instructions (size? colour? style? positions? look & feel? likes/dislikes?):
