Resource 2 (for Teens): Website Titled Pacer Centers Teens Against Bullying
Overview: This website is geared toward both teen victims and bullies to inform them on what
bullying is, to let them know they are not alone and how to make a change. The site contains
informative videos, quizzes and stories that teens can related to. It contains a printable guide
called Bullying 101 that includes tips on what students can do to stop bullying in their lives
and in the lives of their peers. Students can sign the online petition to help end bullying.
Content Provided: Four sections are available on the site: 1. Bullying defined, 2. Experiencing
Bullying, 3. You are Not Alone and 4. Take Action. Teens can sign up for their Newsletter to be
updated on the current ways PACER is preventing bullying.
Purpose: This site is intended to inform teens on bullying and how to help end it in their lives
and beyond.

Resource 3 for Children and Teens: Anti-Bullying Video Titled You are Not Alone
Overview: This Youtube video is an inspiring anti-bullying video that displays the childhood
photos of twenty now-famous people who share their experiences being bullied as a child and/or
teenager. The video gives the statistics on bullying and the famous people, including Barack
Obama, Taylor Swift, Eminem and Princess Kate of Britain, give inspiring messages about how
all can become successful despite of those painful experiences. The song that plays is also
inspiring for those who are enduring difficult times; it is titled Fight Song by Rachel Platten.
Content Provided: The author suggests that this video should be shared and used in school
assemblies and classroom to encourage and support any student who may be or may have been a
victim of bullying.
Purpose: The authors intention for producing this video is to inspire children and teenagers to
hang in there and continue to strive for a great future. She hopes to give those who have
experienced bullying encouragement and the hope to see their lives will be great despite the
people who try to bring them down. The end message concludes in expressing that victims of
bullying are not alone, that many have gone through the same struggle and still succeeded in life.

Resource 4 for Children and Teens: Bully Intervention Video titled Ways to Stop Bullying
Overview: This video explains how common bullying is and gives four steps in how to combat
bullying. Step one is to stop listening to the bully and write down all of personal strengths and
think upon these instead to boost confidence. Step two is building a support system by
surrounding self with people who have things in common and who care. Step three explains the
importance of treating the bully as if he or she is very dangerous. To do this the bully should be
ignored and it is best to keep friends around so the bully cannot easily harass. Step four explains
the importance of telling someone who cares about the situation. If there is no one available to
speak with, the tried and true hotline for victims of bullying is 1-800-4A-CHILD. This video
also has a printable worksheet for viewers to use to further understand how to use the four steps
described.
Services/Content Provided: The video provides more recommended videos produced by
WellCast, a twice a week Youtube show, which produces easy-to-watch videos that cover a range
of relevant child and teen topics such as cyber-bullying, coming out, how to deal with
rejection, and how to break the ice.
Purpose: The ultimate goal of this video is to help individuals on the path to wellness. It
recommends using the worksheets provided in each video they produce for one year to complete
one journal, in order to have one collective journey to wellness.

Resource 5 for Teens: Local Website for Teens called The SLODown.org
Overview: This is the only local website just for teens that offers resources, events, programs, a
blog, answers to common teen questions. The site is supported by The Center for Health and
Prevention: A Division of Community Action Partnership (CAPSLO), and is organized and run
by local teens from different high schools in the area.
Services/Content Provided: The site provides an excellent collection of resources not found on
most local websites such as sexual abuse hotlines, teen pregnancy resources, groups for girls to
gain self-esteem, Christian youth groups, mentor programs, health programs and more. Clubs
such as Big Brothers Big Sisters and Campfire Clubs are noted. Clubs for LB&G Teens and
information on how to get confidential medical services are provided as well.
Purpose: To give teenagers a central hub for all of the resources necessary to have the support
they need to thrive in SLO County.

Overview: Familyaware.org offers these two outstanding books that will help an adolescent get
well and stay well, know what helps and what does not, avoid hospitalization and suicidal
behavior, and teaches better parent/child communication.
Services/Content Provided: One book of the set is for the child or teen with depression or
bipolar disorder, and the other is for the parent/s of the child or teen with the condition.
Listed Mission statement/purpose: This set of two books is intended to help families with a
child or teen who is suffering from diagnosed depression or bipolar disorder. The goal is to help

Resource 10 (for Teens): Book Titled The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens by Sean Covey
Overview: With more than five million copies in print all around the world, The 7 Habits of
Highly Effective Teens is the ultimate teenage success guidenow updated for the digital age
(Amazon Prime, 2016).
Content Provided: In an entertaining style, Covey provides a simple approach to help teens
improve self-image, build friendships, resist peer pressure, achieve their goals, and get along
with their parents, as well as tackle the new challenges of our time, like cyberbullying and social
media. In addition, this book is stuffed with cartoons, clever ideas, great quotes, and incredible
stories about real teens from all over the world. (Amazon Prime, 2016)
Purpose: This book is intended to help teens make the right decisions before entering adulthood
for a more successful future.

Resource 11 for Parents/Educators: Website https://www.kidpower.org/
Overview: Kidpower.org is a website run by a non-profit organization that was founded in 1989
and focuses on equipping children, teens, adults, seniors, special needs individuals, parents,
schools, organizations, and lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgendered, queer/questioning, intersex
and asexual people with knowledge and resources to help prevent bullying and abuse. This
organization also aims to teach all people about stranger safety that includes equipping
constituents with mental, emotional and physical tools to help deal with any threatening
situation. They use research-based methods that have been proven to work and there is ample
evidence on their website that shows the prevention programs they use are highly effective.
Services/Content Provided: The website offers opportunities for anyone to get curriculum,
training or get involved with the cause. Anyone can go to a workshop or bring workshops and
other services to their own community. Their website offers books on subjects such as how to
stop bullying, videos and a newsletter. Joining the One Million Safer Kids Campaign is one
way people can help this organization reach their goal in making at least one million kids safer
from bullying, violence, and abuse by 2016 through greater awareness, action, and skills
(www.kidpower.org).
Mission Statement/Purpose: Kidpower.org aims to teach people of all ages and abilities how
to use their power to stay safe, act wisely, and believe in themselves. Their goals are: 1.To
develop and offer a wide range of high quality, upbeat, and effective child protection, positive
communication, personal safety, self-protection, and confidence-building programs locally and
around the world. 2. To create an international community of leaders who are dedicated to
establishing a long-lasting organization that can sustain this work. 3. To provide extensive
resources in teaching child protection, positive communication, and personal safety skills for all
ages and abilities.

Resource 12 for Parents and Educators: Website https://www.loveandlogic.com/
Overview: Love and Logic is a philosophy founded in 1977 by Jim Fay and Foster W. Cline,
M.D (2016). It is the approach of choice among leading educators, parents, and other
professionals worldwide (2016). The Love and Logic Institute is dedicated to making parenting

and teaching fun and rewarding, instead of stressful and chaotic (2016). This organization
provides practical tools and techniques that help adults achieve respectful, healthy relationships
with their children (2016). All of their work is based on a psychologically sound parenting and
teaching philosophy called Love and Logic (2016).
Services/Content Provided: This website offers excellent books, classes, webinars, curriculum,
and more that covers a number of important subjects that range from bullying, academics,
classroom management, money management, and technology. The website offers packages
designed specifically for parents, educators and for specific age groups. Classes and retreats are
offered, and any organization can arrange for a professional speaker to present a topic at their
location. All printed materials, videos and webinars are provided in Spanish as well as English.
Listed Mission statement/purpose: This practical and straightforward philosophy is backed
with over 35 years of experience (2016). Parents can apply it immediately to a wide range of
situations instead of struggling with difficult counseling procedures (2016).

Resource 13 for Children and Teens: Video Titled (California) Count Me InOn the Fight
Against Underage Drinking
Overview: This video is intended to inform parents on the serious problem of under-age
drinking in California, what communities are doing to combat this problem and how parents and
teens can get involved in reducing the problem. The video includes statistics such as how one in
five teens binge-drink, and conversely only 1 in 100 parents believe their teen binge drinks. It
informs parents on the important steps they must take to prevent alcohol abuse in their own

childs life and offers resources on how they can be involved in helping the cause in their
community.
Content Provided: The video is a resource on the website www.stopalcholabuse.gov which
brings to light the problem with underage drinking in California and highlights programs that
help and actions parents can take to prevent the problem in their family.
Purpose: Between 2006 and 2014, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services
Administration (SAMHSA) provided technical support to states and territories in producing short
videos that showcased their underage drinking prevention efforts, accomplishments, and
opportunities for community involvement (https://www.stopalcoholabuse.gov/statevideos/).

Resource 14 (for Parents and Educators): Government Website Titled stopbullying.gov
Overview: Stopbullying.gov is a comprehensive accumulation of information on the subject of
bullying defining what it is, giving advice, resources, step by step instructions, and individual
state laws regarding the subject. This site has tabs that link to information just for kids, teens,
parents, educators and community members. The link for kids, for example, leads to
stopbullying.gov-kids and has videos available and games for this age group.
Content Provided: General information on bullying; the definition, prevention, intervention
and how to find help is provided. Links to more resources are provided, such as state laws on
bullying, and telephone hotline phone numbers.

point to prevent and combat bullying.

Resource 15 for Children and Teens: Webinar Titled Teen Depression Through 3 Lenses:
Young Adult, Parent, Clinician
Overview: This free webinar is for teens, parents, teachers, school counselors and staff, youth
workers, and anyone interested in teen mental health (Families for Depression Awareness, 2016).
The webinar features Dr. Mary Fristad, an expert in teen depression, Emma, a young adult who
has struggled with depression and has found great support from her family, David, Emma's
father, and Sheila, who has supported sons with depression, one of whom died by suicide
(Families for Depression Awareness, 2016).
Content Provided: A download for an Action Plan template and for the webinar group
discussion material is available.
Purpose: The goal of this webinar is to help viewers to recognize depression in teens, talk to
teens about depression, get help for a struggling teen and address challenges such as the refusal
of help (Families for Depression Awareness, 2016).

Resource 16 (for Parents and Educators): Website Title healthychildren.org
Overview: This website is constructed by the American Academy of Pediatrics and informs
parents on most important subjects dealing with the different age groups from baby to young

adult. It also covers healthy living, safety and prevention, family life, health issues, news, and
gives tips and tools such as apps to make family life easier.
Services/Content Provided: A Pediatrician search engine is displayed on the main page of the
site. Each tab gives ample information with more resources to enhance and use the knowledge
gleaned from their site. The site information on many programs and activities, their policies and
guidelines, their publications and other child health resources, as well as much, much more. All
of the information comes from the nation's leading child health experts and there is scientific
research supporting all recommendations (American Academy of Pediatrics, 2016).
Mission Statement: HealthyChildren.org is the only parenting website backed by 64,000
pediatricians committed to the attainment of optimal physical, mental, and social health and
well-being for all infants, children, adolescents, and young adults (American Academy of
Pediatrics, 2016).

Resource 17 (for Parents): Organization and Website Titled Parent Connection of San Luis
Obispo
Overview: The Parent Connection of San Luis Obispo is the pot of gold of important local
resources to gain success in relationships, and personal success for parent and child/teen. This
site is filled with information on local resources, classes and support. The information gained
from the section on teens includes access to organizations, classes or groups that provide anger
management, psychiatric help, drug and alcohol treatment, no-cost counseling (up to 10
sessions), Parent/Teen mediation services and much more. This site is important for everyone

the SLO County to explore for their own family success and to inform their friends and peers
around them.
Services/Content Provided: Parent Connection does not endorse the classes, support groups, or
resources listed on the web-site (Parent Connection of San Luis Obispo, 2016). The information
is provided to assist parents in their search for resources and services that are appropriate for
their familys needs (Parent Connection of San Luis Obispo, 2016).
