Summary: Secure your wireless router

Set SSID (change default name)
Turn on DHCP
Change default Admin password
Make sure the router password is not still set to the default.

For Encryption use WPA2-AES, not WEP

Enable router firewall
Many routers also have their own firewall that can be enabled.

Disable remote administration

Remote administration allows anyone to hack into (& view or
change) your router settings through the internet (external IP).

Enable wireless MAC filter
The MAC filter feature only allows
connections to your router if the MAC
Address is entered into the filter list.
Turn on WPS (if desired)
Setup Port Forwarding for VPN,
RDP, Xbox (if necessary)
