Science ethics
We debated about the experimentation on humans and if we
would ever take the risk or chance of mixing genes of
whatever we want
We discussed if we would put any genes we wanted to put
into our children to make them athletic, smart, and artistic
etc.
I would want to have kid and see how it comes out if
everyone could just apply genes to their kid they would all be
the same no competition basically but say if there were a
way to change the gene of a kid who would have a disease I
would do it because a disease could make the person suffer
might as well try to change something about it
Biotechnology
Biotechnology-the manipulation of natural biological
processes in order to serve societal needs
Transgenic biotechnology-mixing genetic material from
multiple sources ex: human growth hormones
Reproductive cloning-techniques used to clone certain
species no laws against cloning you have to get your nucleus
removed
Reprogramming cells- reprogramming differentiated cells or
using stem cells
Forensic biotechnology- used for criminals disasters or
finding your biological parents has 3 cycles that increases in
molecules each time
Genetically modified organisms
GM food is food that has been genetically engineered
3 benefits of GMOs are having a more durable to diseases
mpre vitamins more food to feed more people
Bad reasons are harms environment kills good insects
creates more resistant diseases

Summary: we learned about biotechnology and how it creates controversial topics when it is used. The use of
biotechnology also has to do with GMOs which are genetically modified foods that have good and bad effects to it.
Biotechnology can be useful and is used for cloning things or reprogramming cells also mixing genetic material up
to have mixed traits. Reproductive cloning doesnt work on humans and is legal. Transgenic biotechnology can
also mix species together or types of plants to make better things hopefully not like Jurassic park.
