Brochure
Description:
A gateway folding brochure for Season Tickets for the Milwaukee Bucks.
Date:
March 24, 2016
Course/Instructor:
COMM 130, Section 3
Ben Pingel
Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator
Objectives:
The objectives of this project was to learn how to set up and align a brochure. WE also
learned how to wrap text around an image and use paragraph styles in InDesign.
Process:
First I set up the fold I wanted in Adobe InDesign by placing ruler lines. Next I used the
Milwaukee Bucks main logo to be the cover. I cropped it in half, placing each half on the
very left and right sides of the page. Though it looked backwards on the program, when
printed, it allowed the Bucks logo to come together. I then added Season Tickets to
the front cover so people would easily know the message of the brochure.
Inise the brochure, I added renewal information on the left flap, the seating
chart and introduction to the MVP program in the center, and pictures and prices on the
right flap. I also added a bar at the bottom, which said 2016-2017 Milwaukee Bucks
Season Tickets.
For the back, I added a logo I had created in Adobe Illustrator. To create this
logo, I traced a basketball, and made a ticket out of the rectangle shape tool. I also
added Service Rep. Information, my contact information, and a photo of me.

Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe Photoshop
Objectives:
The objectives of this project included learning how to use the Photoshop layers,
learning how to blend images together, use different types of filters, and apply the
appropriate typography.
Process:
I inserted the background image of Calvary. I then edited a grain filter to the image. I
selected the image of the missionary and moved it to the background image, and then
added a mask. With black pain, and going between a 30% and 50% opacity soft-edged
brush, I painted away the hard image edges. I then blended the rest of the image
into the background by using a 80% opacity for the image. I then added a black box
to the bottom of the project to provide more room for the text. I added the text and
emphasized the words missionary work, salvation never was easy, and summit of
Calvary by using a different font and color.

Adobe Illustrator and InDesign
Objectives:
The objective of this project was to create a new logo for a company. Then we learned
how to create a business card through using the basic tools of Illustrator and InDesign.
Process:
I created the logo using simple shapes in Adobe Illustrator. I created my own
microphone using the shapes in Adobe Illustrator. Once the logo was created, I began
working in InDesign.
I used the rectangle tool to create the front and back outline of my business
card. I created the front with the same orange color from the letterhead and inserted
the microphone. On the back, I included my contact information as well as another
microphone in the same color as the orange on the front.

microphone using the shapes in Adobe Illustrator. Once the logo was created, I began
working in InDesign.
I decided to make my first page a letterhead. I positioned the logo on the top of
the page. I then created a watermark with the microphone, located in the right bottom
corner. Next I added an orange bar at the bottom of the page with my
contact information.

Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe Photoshop and TextWrangler
Objectives:
The objectives of this project were to size and optimize and original logo as a .png for a
web page, wrtie content to describe the process of creating our logo and how it appeals
to a target audience, and how to design a web page using HTML to display a logo
and content.
We also developed a knowledge on HTML and basic CSS, learned how to identify
hex colors for web design and how to compress multiple files in a zipped folder to attach
as one file.
Process:
I created this web page using TextWrangler. I used a pre-made HTML document and
added my logo and the process of how I created it. I attached a pre-made CSS document
to my HTML. In the CSS document, I changed the background to an image of cookies,
the colors (using the hexadecimal color from my logo), and the fonts. I added a footer,
social media icons, and a menu. I also added padding to make the website look more
organzed, and opacity to the background image.
was useful to have something check to see if I had any problems with my code.
Adobe Illustrator
Objectives:
The objective of this project was to create a variety of logos that fits a company or
personal image. We were also able to learn the basic tools of Illustrator.
Process:
I first came up with an idea for what kind of business I could make a logo for. I then
created three different ideas in Illustrator, using different color schemes and fonts.
After trying out several drafts and ideas, I took a vote on which was the best. I chose the
one I liked best and it was also tied with another design I had created for which people
liked best.
I moved the s to be more out so that it wasnt too close to the C. I then
added goodies & treats to the bottom so that people would have a better idea of the
companies name. I lightened up the colors of the logo as well so that the cookie was
more visible. I then made one greyscale and added a indigo background to the final logo
and made the design white.

Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe Photoshop
Objectives:
The objective of this project was to learn basic photography skills using a digital
camera. Also learning to adjusting the brightness, contrast, hue and saturation levels.
Next learning how create a poster layout with the original photo and an appropriate
color scheme.
Process:
I chose a Split Complementary color scheme from the Visual FOCUS book. Then I took
a photo with a T3i Rebel Cannon camera. I then brought the photo into Photoshop and
used the specific editing techniques of levels, sharpness, saturation, and color balance.
Then I designed an 8.511 layout that included my photo, text, and repeating
design elements. I incorporated the blue, orange, and teal colors in my design, and in
order to be sure the colors were exact, I used the eye dropper tool along with the Visual
FOCUS Color wheel. I added the three squares to be my second swatch.

Objectives:
The objectives of this project was to find, scan and import a high-quality image. We
were then to create a full-bleed design. We also learned how to use text boxes for
layout, and insert and edit images in Word.
Process:
I scanned the ski image, and then used a Word image effect to delete most of the
background. I then added a background to the entire page, which was the light blue. To
get this light blue color, I used the color wheel. Also, I used this color because I thought
it would look like the sky.
I then added the title and information. Next I added the orange bars, getting
the orange color to match the color wheel as well. I used the orange and blue as they
were complementary colors. I then edited the fonts and information.

typography. We were to incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve a basic flier layout.
We also learned how to create a project folder with the image, logo and InDesign
document to keep links intact.
Process:
I first created four sketches of ideas I could use for my layout. Next I used different
elements for the sketches to create this layout in Adobe InDesign. I used the white boxes
with the date, time, and location for repetition and contrast, as well as the gray boxes
on the top and bottom. I used leadership as the main focus of the title to create a
focus point. I aligned the boxes with the words and picture, as well as with the main
title. I kept a lot of gray space on the bottom to use as negative space.
