Against
the Odds
The Risa Ranch near Opheim
was blessed with a rare set
of triplets Wednesday night
as their calving season is
just getting started. And
we say blessed as Bryce
Risa, who sent us the photo,
explained that he had just
lost a calf and the momma
cow of the dead calf adopted
one of the triplets, which are
around 50-60 pounds each:
two bull calves and one
heifer calf. Whats udderly
amazing is that calf triplets
being born is quite a rare
event. While the likelihood
of beef cattle having twins is
somewhere between 1 and
7%, the chances of triple
births in beef cattle are just
one in 105,000, according to
Charles T. Estill, associate
professor of rural veterinary
practice at the Oregon
State University Veterinary
School. To put that into
perspective, the chances
of finding a four-leaf clover
on the first try are about 1 in
10,000. Bryce had maybe
get to the Mint Bar and get
himself a lottery ticket.

Wade
James
Brockmier, AKA Nickel
Wade, age 50, passed away
on March 30, 2016 at home
in Glasgow, Montana.
Wade was born to
Wesley Brockmier and Dorothy Friedrich on March 15,
1966 in Plentywood, Montana. He attended school there
and graduated from Plentywood High School in 1984.
Wade married Marisa Palazzo on July 18, 1997, and
together, they made their home in Glasgow. He was the
proud papa of Baby and Ally.

Wade was an enthusiastic member of the community
and the Elks 1922 Lodge, where he would often fill his
afternoons with cards and friends. You could also find
him at the Stockmans or Alleys shooting pool and
making people pay. He was always looking for a cause,
having everyones best interests at heart. Wade touched
lives wherever he went. He was a rock supporting and
solid. Thinking of Wade, the words that come to mind are
encouraging, generous, sly, trickster, Raider Nation fan,
friend, confidant, selfless, calm, wise, supportive, kind,
compassionate, loved, genuine, consistent, dependable,
vulnerable, strong, practical, judiciary, powerful,
passionate cook, butterscotch jellybean aficionado,
baseball card fanatic, Christmas in July participant, pet
pig advocate, King of the Roost, 4 Horsemen crusader.

Wade was preceded in death by his grandparents,
Roy and Alma Brockmier, Harold and Sophie Friedrich,
Aunt Linda Halland, and Uncle Lyle Brockmier.

Survivors include his loving wife, Marisa, Parents
Wes and Dot Brockmier, brother Clint (Tasha), nieces
Amy and Emily, nephews Noah, Jeffrey, Nick, Zack,
and Miles, Aunt Betty Craig, Aunt Vera and Uncle Tom
Williford, in-laws Doc and Rosalie Palazzo, Larraine
Eiland (Pete), Chris Palazzo, Gina Hirsch (Dave).
Remembrance and celebration of Wades life will
be held on Monday, April 4, 2016. Family will receive
friends for an open visitation beginning 1:00 PM.
Services will began at 2:00 PM and will be officiated by
Bud Heringer. Both will take place at Bell Mortuary. A
reception will follow at the Elks 1922 Lodge in Glasgow.

All of Wades friends and family are his honorary
urn bearers. In lieu of flowers please donate to the
charity of your choice in Wades name.

The Scotty softball team started the high school

spring sports season off with a bang in Glendive with a
4-1 victory over the Red Devils on Thursday.

What makes the win even sweeter is the fact that
they were missing three of their usual starters who were
not eligible to play because they didnt have the number
of required practices in.

Tyra Johnson picked up the win from the mound
with Ziggy Chamberlain in charge of the catching
duties. Tyra recorded six strike-outs, gave up two walks
and six hits.
One of the highlights of the contest was Tyana
Johnson showing some early-season power with a home
run. Rachel Boese, stepping up from the JV ranks, had
an impressive day with her bat, going 2-3 at the plate,
and Kennedy Schmidt went 2-4.
Being our first game and missing three starters,
I was happy with the way our girls played, said Gil
Johnson, who is the new head coach, replacing longtime
coach Mark Falcon.

Next up for our Scotty varsity girls will be a makeup game in Lewistown on Thursday, April 7th and
theyll have their full line-up.

Rodney-isms

When I was born the doctor came out to

the waiting room and said to my father
Im very sorry. We did everything we
could, but he pulled through.
I remember the time I was kidnapped
and they sent a piece of my finger to
my father. He said he wanted more
proof.
I could tell that my parents hated me. My bath toys were a
toaster and a radio.
I come from a stupid family. During the civil war my great
uncle fought for the west!
My uncles dying wish was to have me sitting on his lap. He
was in the electric chair.
When I was a kid I got no respect. My mother breast fed me
through a straw.
Oh, when I was a kid, I was poor. Christmas, I got no
presents. Well, there was one Christmas, on our front lawn
- Prancer and Dancer - they dropped off a little something.

Well with girls I dont get no respect. I had a blind date. I

Kindergarten Royalty Contest Search

Laura Rebekah Lodge #19 is again looking for 20 Valley County

Kindergartners for 2016. The contest will run from April 15th to May
13th. Ballot boxes will be placed in 15 Valley County businesses.
Contestants are voted on by placing money in voting boxes in the slot
under the childs picture. Each cent will count as a vote. Votes will be
counted twice a week and the results will be in the paper for four weeks.
The finale of the KRC will be May 14th, 2016. Contestants need to be
present to win. The King, Queen, Prince, Princess, and runners-up will
be crowned and receive sashes to keep.
After the children enjoy royal cupcakes and drinks with their
families they will take home large prize bags, with items donated by
local businesses. As the Rebekahs are small in numbers, the Girl Scout
Troop 2464 will be doing their leg work for them. They will be collecting
prizes and getting the boxes for them, doing this will go towards their
community service patch.
For more information or to sign your child up please call (406) 2300343 or (406) 263-0762. Please remember, the contest is limited to 20
children. The deadline for sign-ups is April 11th, 2016

Final Four underway

on Saturday afternoon

As March Madness spills into
April, its going to be an exciting
Final 4.
After first round wins in the
NCAA Mens Sweet Sixteen, three
of #1 seeds made an early exit.
Only #1 North Carolina made it to
the Final Four.
#1 and overall top seed
Kansas... gone. #1 Oregon... gone.
And #1 Virginia... gone.
In the Glasgow Distributors/
Hi-Line Ford Sweet Sixteen
bracket, that wiped out a whole
lotta folks vying for some nice
prizes, particularly those who
picked Kansas because there was
an overwhelming pile of them
(about 80%) who went with the
Jayhawks. Oregon cost quite a few
bracketeers, as did Virginia.
But there is another short
pile of them here that have the
Tar Heels picked to run the table.
They are: Sarah Law, Julie Page,
Kevin Taylor, Ken Jansa, Arlie
McMichael, Don Rath, Wade
Brockmier (aSchool
huge sports fan,
March Madness
was one of his
League
favorite times of the year), Buckets,
Arleen Archambeault, Mandy Lin,
Johnny Lin, Fanny Lin, Kevin
Schindler, and Kent Schindler.
If Villanova should pull it
off, Jim Koessl and Kirsten Bense
could be looking at a tie-breaker.
Wayne Linder and Tara
Strommen saw something in
Oklahoma.
No one in the Glasgow
Distriburs/Hi-Line Ford contest
picked 10th seeded Syracuse to
win it all.

But well see how it plays out
should the men in Orange win
it all, its going to be a disaster to go
through all these brackets to find
our eventual winners!
