Supplementry information
1.1 General notes
All dimensions are in mm unless noted otherwise.
All welds to be 5mm throat continuous fillet unless noted otherwise (See 1.5).
Use suitable electrodes for welding dissimilar metals.
All holes in structural sections are located on standard backmark UNO.
All weep holes shall be sealed with suitable sealant for operating temperatures of -55C to
180C
All clearance holes shall be drilled 2mm oversize up to & incl. M24 and 3mm oversize for
M30 upwards
Minimum temperatures noted on closed welded attachments such as Trunnions, wear pads
etc. should be observed as a precaution to the effect of stress corrosion cracking.
Where a standard component gives a choice of material refer to the pipe support detail
drawing for chosen material.

1.5 Fabrication
The standard weld size to be used for pipe support fabrication shall be a=0.7 WT but max
5mm (throat) continuous fillet weld.
Full penetration welds shall be employed on all closed structural sections (SHS, RHS CHS
etc.) UNO
Fabrication of pipe supports shall comply with the relevant project Fabrication document, for
example BS 5950 : Design, Fabrication and Erection of Structural Steelwork or Norsok M101 : Structural Steel Fabrication.
1.5.1 Nuts, bolts and u bolts
All components to be hot dipped galvanized to ASTM A153.
Nuts and locknuts shall be in accordance with BS 3692, or equivalent, Grade 8.
Bolts shall be in accordance with BS 3692, or equivalent, Grade 8.8.
Washers shall be in accordance with BS 4320 Table 1, or equivalent.
Unless otherwise specified threads shall be Metric Coarse Pitch, right hand thread.
Where connections are made to pipe flanges the nuts and bolts shall be to the relevant Pipe
Specification.
1.6 Tagging of Support Components

All loose items shall be bagged and tagged as specified on the pipe support detail drawing
