Genesis

Gen 1: 24: Creation of human beings in the image and likeness of God (blessing for all).

Gen : 2,7: - HP - Dependent on god

Gen 2, 4- 3, 24 - Second creation story considers Adam and eve as historical persons

The Semitic traditions are: the Jewish tradition they believe in a personal God who
establishes a covenantal relationship with human beings (gen 9: 9- 11).

The Jews too believe in a personal God who establishes a covenantal relationship with all
humans (Gen 9:9).

Gn 12:1-3: By you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.

The Patriarchs built altars in Canaan (Gen 12, 7f; 13, 18; 26, 25) and offered sacrifices (Gen 22;

Exodus

Ex 4: 22-23a. The expressions `Israel is my first Son', `let my Son go' show for the first time
the

Father Son relationship between God and Israel.

6: 6-7 also clearly brings out the idea of God as Saviour, protector and redeemer of the people of Israel

Ex 15: 11 who is like you O Lord among the Gods?

19, 3-8 - If you obey my voice and keep my covenant you shall be my treasured possession
out of all the peoples.

In Ex 19:6 in the OT, the whole nation of Israel (due to covenant) is vested with the priestly
powers (due to mission).

Amos1-2 OAF - Arranged according to the theme/subject

Amos 3,1.2 - Brought you out of Egypt.you only have I known of all the families of the
earth.

In Amos (1-2) God punishes other nations. Whose is he to punish other gods? Who is he to punish
other nations?

Amos 7: 15, Is 1:3 -- He is a Covenantal God. He entered into a covenantal relation with Israelite
and called them my people

Amos 9:7- Expanded by the Redactor (Hope-doxologies-promise of God)

Amos 9.13 we see the superscription of Hope, doxology hurried ending.

Jn 1:1-18 says no one has ever seen God. It is God the only Son who has made him
known. Therefore this text clearly shows the Trinity understanding of God as revealed by
Jesus.

Jn 1,14 : In Jesus Christ, the word became flesh.

Jn 1, 32-33 - Jesus is the permanent abode of the Spirit

Jn 14:9 Jesus tells Philippians Whoever has seen me has seen the Father.

To be our model of holiness (Jn 15, 12)

John: Presents Mary from Ecclesiological perspective. Eg : In Cana Mary is presented


the perfect disciple as a woman of faith.

John 17:19 Structure of priestly prayer, Yom Kippur- high Priest invokes name of God,
prayed for himself, for the priests and for all people.

Jn 19, 26 -27 : Mary is not shown as comforter but the Messianic motherhood is stressed.

Petrine Ministry - The origin and growth of the church are symbolized in the blood and
water that flowed from the side of Jesus on the cross(Jn 19,34)

Acts

Acts 1,14 : Mary is presented at the birth of Christ Christocentric and the birth of the
church Ecclesio-centric.

Acts 2,2 = sound like the ruah = a violent wind.

Rom 1:20: Natural revelation

The salvific effects of thee saving events are appropriated through faith in Jesus Christ (Rom
1:16-17)

Galatians

Gal 1,15 is the key text to understand his mission

before I was formed in the womb, God had set me apart to send me to proclaim to the
gentiles.(Gal 1:15)

Gal 1:16 - Paul is not an apostle by human beings but untimely from God through Jesus Christ
commissioned to present the gospel to the gentiles

Gal 2, 20: There is no longer I who live but Christ lives in me.

Gal 4, 4-6: God sends Son, Spirit; their twofold mission in the Church

Gal 5, 13: - We are called to be slaves, slaves to one another. before and into god. Its a self
realization in the direction of God or radical self refusal towards God.

Principle of right conduct( Gal 5, 16-25)

Gal. 5: 16ff --Therefore, as much as we live in the Spirit, we will be moving away from the
sphere of flesh into the sphere of the Spirit.

Gal. 5:22 ff --To the extent we move from flesh to the spirit, we will have the fruit of the Spirit
joy, sympathy, understanding, forgiveness and so on.

Ephesians

Eph 1,19: It pleaed God , in his goodness and wisdom to reveal the mystery of his will
through Jesus Christ.

Eph 2, 8-10: By grace you have been saved through faith and it is not your own doing but
its the gift of God.

A gratuitous gift of God means without any condition we dont merit it as Eph 2, 8-10
says

Eph 2:18 which says, For through him both of us have access in one Spirit to the Father

Eph 4, 4-6: above all (Father), through all (Son), in all (Spirit).

Philipians

Phil 1,21 : For me living is Christ and dying is gain.

Timothy 1,2

(1 Tim 6:16). - Human beings are a bundle of possibilities seeking "the Beyond"- God,
though no one has ever seen God ...

1 tim 2, 4 : God wills the salvation of all.

1 Tim 2, 5: There is one God; there is also one mediator between God and mankind,
Christ Jesus, himself human

2 Tim 3, 16-17: all scripture is inspired by God; and is useful for teaching, for reproof
for correction, and for training in righteousness.

Letter to Hebrews

The Scripture says the living God has been disclose of us in varied times and nowhere more
fully than in Jesus Christ (Heb 1: 1ff).

Heb 1:1-2 - Supernatural revelation

Heb 5, 1-4- He is the mediator between God and humankind. He offers sacrifice for the sins
of humans he is appointed by God to this office. By a line of reasoning using the figure of
Melchizedek
Heb 9/ 12 : he entered once and for all to the holy place, not with the blood of goats and calves
but with his own blood thus obtaining eternal redemption.
Heb 9, 25 26 :

Nor was it to offer himself again and again, as the High Priest enters year after year with
the blood that is not his own, for then he would have to suffer again and again, since the
foundation of the world. But as it is he has appeared once and for all at the end of the age
to remove sin by the sacrifice of himself.

(Heb 13:15) As baptized Christians we share in one priesthood of Jesus Christ which also means
the triple function of priesthood (LG 34-36).

1 John

To save us by reconciling us with God (1 Jn 4, 10; 4, 14; 3, 5)

So that me might know Gods love (1 Jn 4, 9; Jn 3, 16)

Peters Letters

1 Pet 2: 9 says, You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, Gods
own people

1 Pet 3/18 - spirit is the power behind the resurrection

Priesthood of the faithful is explicitly stated in the first epistle of Peter and in
Revelation. They attribute to Christian people the royal priesthood of Israel (1 Pet 2:
5&9;

To make us partners of the divine nature (2 Pet 1, 4)

2 Pet 1, 19-21 so prophecy and scripture is a matter of ones own interpretation .


Because no prophecy ever came by human will, but MEN AND WOMEN MOVED BY
THE HOLY SPIRIT SPOKE FROM GOD.

2 Pet 3, 15-16 this refers to the Pauline corpus as being on par with the Jewish scriptures.

Revelations

Rev 1: 6/ 5: 10/ 20: 6; see Ex 19: 6 you shall be for me a priestly kingdom and a holy
nation).
