Fall 2014
Family and Community Relationships
Parent Event Assessment
I enjoyed planning the Harvest Family Fest for the families of the
Child Development Center. I was a part of the advertising and raffle
group. We all worked very well together by sharing ideas and splitting
up what items to bring for the raffle basket. We created a Facebook
group, which helped with our communication as a group. I took the role
of picking up the $35 Target gift card and the candle for our raffle
basket. I then spoke with the members of the group and I delegated
what other items we needed for our raffle basket. I kept the
communication open by creating multiple posts on Facebook asking for
opinions of the group members. I feel that I was a very effective
member of our group. During the event, my group greeted the families
as they arrived and collected the food donations. We focused on being
friendly, welcoming, and very professional.
For future classes, I would suggest sending out more flyers and
hang up more posters. I would also suggest to expanding our
invitations to any WCTC students who have children, not only CDC
families. Our event may have been more successful with more families
invited. I am proud of what my group and my class put together. The
raffle basket turned out beautifully, we received many food donations,

the children and parents seemed entertained and they had a variety of
activities to do, food to eat, and information to read.
