ProjectSummary
TheePortfolioProjectisa10week,online,selfguided,digitallearningexperience
(DLE)thatsupportsthedevelopmentofePortfoliosatChemeketaCommunityCollege.
Thismodulestudentswillguidelearnersthroughplanning,evaluationofsoftware,and
initialstepsofcreatingpagesintheirePortfolio.Thismoduleisintendedtobeused
alongwithinstructorleadfacilitationoccurringinthespecificcoursesthatrequire
ePortfolios.TheDLEincludesfiveactivities,groupcollaborationandopportunitiesfor
peerfeedbackandselfevaluation.

InstructionalGoal
ProvideeffectivestrategiesforplanningandcreatinganePortfolio.Additionally,thesite
willbeserveasanongoingresourcewithlinkstocollegesupportservicesand
materialsrelatedtoePortfoliocreationandmanagement.

OutcomesandObjectives
AttheendoftheePortfolioProject,studentswilldemonstrateabilityto:
1. UnderstandandexplainePortfolioconcepts.
2. UseSelfReflectionasaformativefeedbacktooltowardstheirowngrowthand
progress.
3. DevelopaworkflowplanforcreatingtheirePortfolio
4. Analyzeandevaluatewebbasedsoftwareandtoolsforeffectiveusewiththeir
ePortfolios.
5. Createalivingdocumentthathighlightstheircollegejourneyanddemonstrates
theirskills,achievementsandabilities.

atwoyear,publiccollegethatoffersAssociateDegreesandCertificates.

ThecollegesmaincampusislocatedinSalem,Oregon,andtherearesixsatellite
locations,servingthetricountyareaofMarion,PolkandYamhillCounties.Chemeketa
isthesecondlargestcommunitycollegeinthestateofOregonandoffersoneofthe
mostcomprehensiveonlineprogramamongthe17communitycollegesinthestate.

Thecollegeoffersamixofgeneraleducationcoursesthataretransferabletoa
fouryearuniversity,andtheyalsoprovideabroadrangeofCareerandTechnical
educationinhealthsciences,emergencyservices,agriculture,andindustrial
technology.Thesecondlargestpopulationatthecollegearehispanicstudents
currentlyat23%ofthestudentbody.

LearnerCharacteristics
Learnersforthisdigitallearningexperiencearefirsttimecollegestudentswith
averageagerangingfrom1830yearsold.Manyofthelearnersarefirstgeneration
students.Itiscommontoalsohaveadultswhoarereturningtocollegeaftermany
years.

Motivation
Thisdigitallearningexperiencesisarequirementforcoursesthatimplement
ePortfolios.CoursescurrentlyusingePortfoliosinclude:ED235,SSP112,COMM219
andtheEarlyChildhoodEducationprogram,howeverthisDLEhaspracticalapplication
forstudentsinalldisciplinesatthecollege.

PriorKnowledge
TheePortfolioProjecthasnoprerequisites.Priorexperiencewithgroupactivitiesand
selfreflectionwritingexerciseswillbehelpfultothelearners.
