To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing because I wish to communicate my interest in an upper level elementary position at
your school. The experiences I have obtained and qualifications I possess make me the best fit
for one of these positions.
I majored in Social Studies at Michigan State. The required courses I took have prepared me to
not only create engaging and demanding lessons using the necessary curriculum but have also
prepared me to create a safe and understanding classroom community. It is crucial to me that
students are able to see themselves in their learning and they can share their ideas, concerns and
accomplishments with not only myself, but their classmates as well. I believe it is absolutely
imperative students feel you are not simply their teacher but someone they can depend on
outside of the classroom.
I am currently completing my internship year at Andrew Carnegie Elementary School in a fourth
grade classroom while continuing to attend post-graduate classes at Michigan State University.
Due to the make-up of my classroom at Carnegie, I have come to be extremely comfortable with
creating and differentiating lesson plans for students of all ranges across the four core subjects.
This has led to my increased ability in implementing instruction that help the students better
relate and engage with the curriculum.
I firmly believe I would be the best candidate for any upper level elementary positions due to my
beliefs and past experiences. I would welcome any opportunities to further prove my aptitude for
