1.PURPOSE
To ensure that Cable Laying are executed safely and in accordance with the contract
requirements and that all quality assurance / control activities required for the same
are conducted in a systematic manner, works are inspected and conformance is
verified and documented.
2.SCOPE OF WORKS/METHOD
2.1 This procedure is applicable to the following works associated with the project
titled 72 GALLERY TOWNHOUSES PHASE 2 IN DUBAI SPORTS CITY

5. SAFETY
Tool box talk has to be conducted all the hazards have to be identified before
starting the work.
Personnel Protective Equipments (PPE) to be worn by the Task force during
execution at site.
Clear the obstructions from the surrounding area to avoid Near misses and
accidents.
Manufacturers recommendation has to be followed on health and safety if
applicable.
Any Process adopted and may have a particular safety risk will be assessed
and addressed as required.
6. RESPONSIBILITIES
6.1
Project Engineer
To be the focal point for interfaces and other communications with the
ENGINEER and Contractors as required during execution of work.
He shall ensure that adequate quality measures are being undertaken.

He shall ensure that the proper tools and tackles are available for the timely
completion of the job in a quality manner.
He
inspect the same work prior to initiate ITR for ENGINEER approval.
Maintain
Reviews the Method Statement before starting the work, explains the same
to the subordinates and prepares program for the daily job. Aware of all code
of practices, Standards & Specifications and HSE plan and to appreciate the
workforce to perform a time bound and quality job.
He shall originate ITR for completed installation, termination & test works and
companies.
Obtain ENGINEER approval before cables are covered and trenches are
backfilled.
6.3
Check with the approved shop drawing and load schedule for cable sizes
Measure the actual lengths required for each cable routes.
Check if the cables are as per the approved material
Ensure adequate depth for the cables laid below ground
Check to avoid any clashes with other below ground services
Checks for damages in cable if any.
7. PROCEDURE
7.1
Equipments:

Standard Hand tools Marker, Cable Jack, Rollers, Cable Cutter, Pull Rope,
Measuring Tape, Meggar, Crimbing tools etc.
7.2
Handling
During transportation, material must not be handled roughly, it should be
protected properly with the covers.
Use of improper machinery / handling equipment for lifting must be avoided.
7.3
Transportation:
The transporting vehicle must ideally have a flat bed, free for any rough
surfaces or corrugation.

Material should be stored in covered store.
Material should be stored as per manufacturer requirement & standards.
7.5
Site Work:
7.5.1
Cable Laying
Check the cable route as per approved shop drawings.
Make sure that cable tray / containment installation is done as per
requirement, specification and approval.
Lay the cable on tray / containment without any overlap. Spacing between
the cables to be as per specification and authority requirement.
Dress the cable with cable cleats / cable ties spacing between cable tie to be
half meter.
Check the spacing between the cables and be sure that is as per
specification.
Terminate the cable with proper Gland Box / Gland Plate for Meter Cabinet.
Check the continuity for the cable.
Re Check and confirm the following.
1. Cable size is as per approved drawing.
2. Glanding is done correctly.
3. Provide warning tape above the cable routing as per the standards.
4. Install cable markers at each change in cable direction, joint position
and entry points to the villa.
5. The size of the trench, backfilling and identification works to be done as
per specification and standards.

8. QA/QC PROCEDURE
All inspection / Testing as defined in related Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) shall
be conducted. Related check sheets shall be completed. All standards and
measures related to service provider to be checked.
