schoolboycottsIdon'tbelieveinanykindofintegrationI'mnotevenworriedaboutit,becauseIknow
you'renotgoingtogetitanywayyou'renotgoingtogetitbecauseyou'reafraidtodieyou'vegottobe
readytodieifyoutryandforceyourselfonthewhiteman,becausehe'llgetjustasviolentasthosecrackers
inMississippi,righthereinCleveland.Butwewillstillworkwithyouontheschoolboycottsbecausewe're
againstasegregatedschoolsystem.Asegregatedschoolsystemproduceschildrenwho,whenthey
graduate,graduatewithcrippledminds.Butthisdoesnotmeanthataschoolissegregatedbecauseit'sall
black.Asegregatedschoolmeansaschoolthatiscontrolledbypeoplewhohavenorealinterestinit
whatsoever.
LetmeexplainwhatImean.Asegregateddistrictorcommunityisacommunityinwhichpeoplelive,
butoutsiderscontrolthepoliticsandtheeconomyofthatcommunity.Theyneverrefertothewhitesection
asasegregatedcommunity.It'stheallNegrosectionthat'sasegregatedcommunity.Why?Thewhiteman
controlshisownschool,hisownbank,hisowneconomy,hisownpolitics,hisowneverything,hisown
communitybuthealsocontrolsyours.Whenyou'reundersomeoneelse'scontrol,you'resegregated.
They'llalwaysgiveyouthelowestortheworstthatthereistooffer,butitdoesn'tmeanyou'resegregated
justbecauseyouhaveyourown.You'vegottocontrolyourown.Justlikethewhitemanhascontrolofhis,
youneedtocontrolyours.
Youknowthebestwaytogetridofsegregation?Thewhitemanismoreafraidofseparationthanhe
isofintegration.Segregationmeansthatheputsyouawayfromhim,butnotfarenoughforyoutobeoutof
hisjurisdictionseparationmeansyou'regone.Andthewhitemanwillintegratefasterthanhe'llletyou
separate.Sowewillworkwithyouagainstthesegregatedschoolsystembecauseit'scriminal,becauseitis
absolutelydestructive,ineverywayimaginable,tothemindsofthechildrenwhohavetobeexposedtothat
typeofcripplingeducation.
