Goals
By the end of the course participants were introduced to the following:

METHODOLOGY
The training was initially a face-to-face intervention where I explained all the concepts
relating to the solution.
I demonstrated the solution via role-play: imitating a real class situation with a teacher
and the actual teachers being the learners using the classmates.
Teachers worked in groups, each teacher received a printed handout with relevant
activities and I guided them through the different functions of the solution.
Practical integration happened where the teachers brought their learners to the lab
and the teacher together with the facilitator integrated the Classroom management
tools.
They browsed through the content and some of the teachers even presented lessons
using existing Learnthings content and Encarta. The Methodology worked well for this
intervention.

THE STUDENTS:
Once the students grasped the possibilities of the software, I could not drag them away from the
computers. They expressed their desire to return for more. The audio visual interactive nature of
the software engaged them fully. The workshop was a huge success in this regard. I mostly
covered Encarta, using step by step lessons, assisted by other teachers, to familiarise them with
the track pad (mouse) and the functions of the Classroom management solution. They particularly
enjoyed the quiz and the group chat functions. For most of them it was their very first time in front
of a pc.
THE SCHOOL:
I was received with an open heart and was treated well by both teachers and students. There is
no pc lab in the school, but Mr. Bhiya, the principal, arranged a big classroom and made sure the
charging trolley was there every day. I just walked in and commenced with training.
