Philosophy of Education
Education
Education is a pivotal part in the advancement of society. In order to have contributing
members of society, we must educate young members to be leaders and make a difference in the
world around them. Every student deserves to have access to a safe, uplifting, and positive
learning community where they can thrive.
Educating students is more than teaching them about the four major disciplines and
related arts. It is about producing confident, well-versed, respectful and passionate members of
society. Education should facilitate healthy and positive working relationships between students
in order to benefit the world around them. Preparing students for their future is pivotal.
My Role in Education
I believe that my role in the classroom is to facilitate meaningful discourse and learning.
It is my job to prepare students for high school, college and future careers. Throughout engaging
and practical lessons, students will work with various peers in order to enrich and enhance their
learning. My job as an educator is to teach every student in the way they learn best, as no two
students have the same strengths and needs. I will enrich grade level standards with fun and
engaging lessons and activities. Students will learn through modeling, guided practice and
independent practice. During instruction, I will constantly be assessing student understanding in
order to adjust the lesson. This assessment will provide individuals, group and the whole class
with more support and higher thinking. With the Common Core State Standards and Next
Generation Science Standards, I will implement cross-curricular lessons in order to improve
engagement and produce well rounded learners.
My job is not just to be a teacher; I am also a cheerleader, mentor, role model, and
soundboard for my students. From the first day in my classroom, students should know that I will
always believe in them. I will never give up on my students, and I will always have their best
interest in mind. My ambition as their teacher is to ignite their passion for learning, and prepare
them for their future. As a co-worker I will develop positive working relationships with the
educators and staff around me to benefit everyone. I hope to share ideas, and receive feedback
from my peers in order to improve my practice.
Despite being a teacher, I vow to never stop being a learner. Whether it is filling my
winter break with professional development, spending the summer in workshops, or researching
the latest teaching practices, I will never stop learning. My continuation as a life-long learner
will improve my teaching techniques, and therefore expand student learning. Even though I am a
teacher, I will never stop being a student. My goals include a masters degree and doctorate in
the future.
My Learners
Every learner is capable of achieving greatness. It is my job to give them opportunity to
shine. This relies on building a trusting relationship and a strong rapport with students. In order
to truly support each and every student, I need to know his or her abilities, limits, strengths and
weaknesses. Most importantly, I need to truly know the student. Fostering a relationship with the
learner, showing that I really do care, and providing all the necessary supports will ensure
student success.
When students arrive, they should be ready to engage in class discussions and participate
in learning. I expect all students to participate in class. When partaking in discourse with peers,
students are respectful and supportive of others answers and suggestions.

My goal is to produce learners who show self-efficacy, leadership skill, a positive selfesteem, and the ability to self-advocate. In turn, my students will become positive role models
who show a desire to be a life-long learner. It is my hope that my students take the academic and
life skills taught in my class to positively impact others.
My Classroom
The learning environment, my classroom, is a safe space where various ideas and
opinions are welcomed. All students should feel safe, and comfortable in the classroom. My
classroom will provide students with a motivating learning community filled with the resources
needed to succeed.
My classroom should include student-centered learning instead of teacher-centered
instruction. Through proper facilitation, students are able to inquire and discover about the
phenomena. This supported learning environment will instill students with the value of being a
life-long learner, and with the desire to continue their learning.
