Apple IPhone v. Samsung galaxy

I have chosen to research two companies; Apple IPhone and Samsung

Galaxys technologies are to leaders in the world of smartphone technology. The
IPhone is the most popular phone of the century and without a doubt the most user
friendly and most common phone in history. However how far ahead of the game is
Apple really? Are they really the better phone? Lets take a look.
SCREEN
Samsung Galaxy S6: 5.1-inch, QHD '2K' Super AMOLED, 577ppi, 536 nits
brightness
iPhone 6: 4.7-inch, 1334 x 750 IPS LCD, 326 ppi, 504 nits brightness

SAMSUNG GALAXY S6 VS IPHONE 6: PERFORMANCE
Samsung Galaxy S6: Exynos 7420 64-bit octa-core, Mali T760 GPU, 3GB RAM
iPhone 6: Apple A8 64-bit dual-core 1.4GHz, PowerVR GX6450 GPU, 1GB RAM

SAMSUNG GALAXY S6 VS IPHONE 6: BATTERY LIFE

Samsung Galaxy S6: 2550 mAh non-removable battery, wireless charging
iPhone 6: 1810 mAh non-removable battery

The iPhone 6 features Apples punchy A8 CPU, a dual-core 64-bit chip with a

seriously swift GPU attached and backed by 1GB of RAM. This is a different
approach to that taken by Android chip makers, who typically go for a quad-core
GPU and at least 2GB of RAM. For the S6 Samsung opted against using the
Snapdragon 810 processor found inside the LG Flex 2 and HTC One M9 in favor for
its custom chip. The 64-bit Exynos 7420 chip offers a very similar octa-core set-up to
the aforementioned Snapdragon 810 and delivers a slick, overall performance.
Elsewhere, the Samsung Galaxy S6 features 3GB of RAM - thats three times the
amount found in the iPhone 6. More important here, however, is the speed of that
RAM. The Galaxy S6 is the first phone to feature DDR4 memory, which is 80 percent
faster than the iPhone 6's DDR3. When you compare the Geekbench 3 multi-core
benchmark tests, the S6 comes out on top but numbers only tells half the story. In
day-to-day performance both are extremely quick and slick and our usual complaints
of TouchWiz slowing things down isn't apparent on the more streamlined version
Samsung has adopted for the S6 (Trusted reviews).
Thus leading to the review of all of this geekey information. In terms of the
phones the s6 and s7 by galaxy takes gold for the best phone of this day and age it has
many things that I phones does not and out preforms the iPhone on almost every
category that people care about.
So then why is the IPhone still the leading competitor in the smartphone
division you ask? All signs point to user ability, loyalty and companies future.

Apple was the first company to revolutionize the cell phone and theircompany.
When the IPhone came out Apple laptop and iPod fans were skeptical on how well

the touch screen world work and how much the service would cost. However Apple
silenced their doubters and came to one of the biggest rises in corporation history.
According to Yahoo Finance, Apple's biggest gain in the six months after a launch
was by 64%. That came after the first-generation iPhone release, which was a game
changer for the industry. The S&P 500 rose 62% in the same six months.
The only loss over a six-month period after an iPhone release came after the iPhone
5's September 2012 debut. Apple shares fell 35% during that window.
In the 12 months after new iPhone launches, Apple shares have rallied every time
except twice. They gained 96% from the July 2009 launch of the iPhone 3GS
(business insider). The companies huge success silenced doubters everywhere and
shook the smartphone world.

This graph showing apples huge success since the first iPhone
came out

On the other hand there is Samsung, a Korean company that first started with

flip phones and have developed many groundbreaking inventions in many markets.
From laptops, programing equipment, to virtual reality glasses Samsung is nothing
short of an innovative company. When they broke into the smart phone business they
were one of the most unpopular smartphone companies in the industry. Now they are
giving apple a run for their money in the smart phone industry. It would appear
Samsung has done its sales magic yet again. Despite a pronounced slowdown in the
high-end market, its Galaxy S7 duo has managed to exceed sales expectations.
The figures are far from final, but according to Jay Yoo, industry analyst at
Korea Investment & Securities, Samsung has already exceeded the initial 7 million
unit estimate and has managed to ship around 9.5 million S7 phones. This has
mandated some major forecast recalculations, which has naturally attributed for a
raise in share value - 2.4% on Wednesday in an 18-week high (GSM). However
Forbes on the other hand thinks that Samsung needs to do 3 crucial steps to sell more
phones and defeat Apple in the smartphone market however, I think that the first step
is the most crucial. First is to get sales up and boost the number of handsets in the
hands of consumers. But it needs to be the right handsets. After all the unit numbers
are up in the last quarter, but the numbers were for a mid-range device with a smaller
profit margin. Having to sell more mid-range devices to maintain parity is not the best
long-term strategy (Forbes). Clearly there are many things that Samsung needs to
work on in order for the company to pass apple. This is mainly do to the fact that
many people are scared to switch from an IPhone to a galaxy. After reading several
customer reviews it is hard to decide who is the true customer victor.

Many customers posted many reviews about the phones and after hours of research
there is only one reason that IPhone fans wont switch. I had nothing but nice things
to say about the S7. It looks great. It's waterproof. It has the best camera ever put in a
smartphone. It makes the incredible world of VR accessible to more people than any
other gadget. But as much as I loved the Galaxy S7, there's still one thing that keeps
me from recommending it over the iPhone.
iOS.
iOS is Apple's greatest weapon against the competition, and it's the main reason why
the iPhone continues to be such a massive success even though anyone can make a
smartphone that's just as good hardware-wise. iOS has the best apps, the most
consistent updates over the lifespan of your device, and the most dedicated army of
developers dreaming up new ways to unlock the potential of your iPhone. You can't
say that about any Android phone. And you definitely can't say about Samsung
phones, which have a terrible track record with timely software updates and come
bloated with unnecessary software from the carrier and Samsung itself. In fact, newer
Samsung phones only just started getting the latest version of Android this month,
even though Google released it last fall. That never happens with iOS. Apple does an
excellent job at keeping its devices up to date with the latest software and features. In
fact, the iPad 2, which is about five years old now, is compatible with iOS 9, the
current version of iOS. You won't find a single Samsung device that old that's still
supported by the company's software (businessinisder). Obviously there is

something that apple has over Samsung, however this game is closely contested and
will be interesting to see how it plays out in the future.
Now on to both companies future, apple is said to be the furture o most
technologies and want to be completely 100% wireless in the future inclooding no
headphone jack. However on the other hand Samsung thinks more outside the box
with phones that feature a more bulky look and a 100% functional projector and more
useful technologies like text alert with colors located on the phones outer screen there
is no doubt that at this point Apple is leading the way with tenologies and phone sales
however Samsung with the galaxy line is biting at Apples heals and I think that it is
safe to say that if apple does not come out with something amazing for IPhone 7.
Another thing is clear as a personal fan of apple and everything they have to offer I
am very skeptical of not having a headphone jack and where the future of apple is
going. It is almost scary to read about how close behind Samsung is and how
innovated they are getting and how normal apple is staying. I also am willing to say
that if IPhones dont start working out the glitches and lasting longer the a year
Samsung might get more customers then they think. The Smartphone market is one of
the most pivotal and competitive markets in the world and I would hate to see a
company that I love falter under another company that is being more creative and
giving the people more of what they want.
