In this article, the authors discuss the different views of multiple leaders, ranging from
mayor to senators. The main politician they discussed was the Mayor of Roanoke,
Virginia, David Bowers and the fact that he is strongly against welcoming refugees into
Virginia. The authors also point out that this is far from a single party issue, with a
combination of democrats and republicans both in favor of welcoming the displaced
people, and not in favor.

In this article, Dr. Zhong Bu discusses the Syrian refugee crisis after the Paris Terrorist
attacks and the United States governors who are against the harboring of refugees. Bu
talks about the fear that he governors express, while underlining the fact that America has
historically been a safe haven for citizens of countries in times of crisis.

This article broke down the demographics of the countries that are welcoming Syrian
refugees. The authors provided a number of different graphs showing the percentage of
refugees that have already been taken in, with Germany having the highest percentage.
Germany has already welcomed over 100,000 displaced people, leading the developed
countries.

Throughout the online article, the authors discuss the different governors that are refusing
to welcome refugees into their states. 31 of the 50 states have decided to block legislation
that would mandate their state to harbor Syrian refugees, making it more difficult for the
federal government to pass laws regarding the situation. Only seven states responded by
saying they would welcome the displaced individuals (Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware,
Hawaii, Pennsylvania, Vermont, and Washington) while the remaining 12 states have not
given a conclusive answer on whether or not they will attempt to block legislation or
welcome the Syrians.

In this article, Klein begins by reminiscing with a personal anecdote about his fathers
journey as a Hungarian refugee, pointing out that in the 1950s, Eastern Europeans were

welcomed warmly by the United States and Canada. He compared the experience his
father had, being falsely accused by an anti-Semite, to the 2015 Paris terrorist attacks,
with one of the attackers having a falsified Syrian passport. He expresses that the terrorist
attack has spread Islamophobia and that by not accepting refugees, DAESH is ultimately
winning.

The article begins by discussing the Presidents message to Americans to welcome
refugees warmly and to think of them as pilgrims on the Mayflower. The author then
talks about the Presidents plan to welcome 10,000 refugees by 2017 and the government
officials who are against it.

This BBC article goes indepth at the crisis happening in Syria. It gives a brief history of
how it began, and provides statistics on the number of individuals killed since the civil
wars birth in 2011. The authors have provided a map of Syria showing the areas that are
run by the government, the rebels, Hezbollah, the Islamic State, and the Kurdish, as well
as providing a graph showing the total number of killings. From there, they discuss the
humanitarian crisis, and the fact that chemical warfare is being used on these people.
