WhatIsDocumentManagementSystem?
1. DocumentmanagementsystemorDMSasitisknownisusedforstoringandprocessingdocumentsanddocumentlikeobjectssuchasCADdrawings,Materials,picturesetc.
2. WiththehelpofDocumentManagementSystem,theuserswillbeabletoviewthedocumentswitheasewithintheirSAPsystems.
3. InordertouseDMS,youneedtoimplementsomeCustomizingSteps.Fordetails,seetheImplementationGuide(IMG)underthefollowingpath:SAPWebApplicationServerBasisServices
KnowledgeProviderDocumentManagementService.TheIMGmodulescontaindetailsontheindividualCustomizingactivities.

1.CV01N:Createadocument
2.CV02N:Changeadocument
3.CV03N:Displayadocument
4.CV04N:Findadocument
Let'slookateachofthetransactionindetail.
1.CV01N:CreateaDocument

a.UponexecutionofthetcodeCV01N,thefollowingscreenisdisplayedwhereintheuserhastomentionthevalueof'DocumentType',andifrequired'DocumentPart'anditsversion.DocumentPart
isonlymentionedwhenalargedocumentisdividedintomanypages.Bydefault,thesystemwouldtakeavalueof'000'fordocumentpartand'00'forthedocumentversion.

b.UponexecutionofthetcodeCV01N,thefollowingscreenisdisplayed,whereintheuserhastoenterthedescriptionofthedocument.DependingonthesettingsfortheparticularDocumentType,

typeandexecutethereporttodeleteallthedocumentsofthespecificdocumenttypemarkedfordeletion.SettingthevalueofTestModeas'X'willnotdeletethedocument.

Usingthistransactionallthedocumentsbelongingtoaparticulardocumenttypecanbefetchedandfurtherprocessed

UploadingDocumentsUsingBAPI's
Whenalargenumberofdocumentshavetobeuploaded,orwhendocumentsaretobetransportedfromalegacysystemtotheSAPserver,itisdifficultfortheusertomanuallydothis
usingCV01N.ThiscouldbedonebyusingBDC's,buttherecordingwouldbealittledifficultforsuchacomplextransaction.HenceSAPhasprovidedasetofBAPI'Stoavoidsucha
schenario.
