UNIT/CHAPTER OBJECTIVE/GENERALIZATION/BIG IDEA:


This lesson is part of a unit plan on personal and cultural history.

LESSON OBJECTIVE:
Given a computer or laptop, students will be able to search and find images that correspond with their own life
events with a 4 out of 5 on the rubric.
Given the handout, students will be able to identify at least 10 life events with a 3 out 5 on the rubric.
Given the correct resources, students will be able to create a Prezi outlining their life events in correct
chronological order with a 4 out of 5 on the rubric.
STANDARDS ADDRESSED:
Tennessee State Standard: 1.35 Place events in students own lives in chronological order.
ISTE Standard: 3. Research and Information Fluency: Students apply digital tools to gather, evaluate, and use
information.
b. Locate, organize, analyze, evaluate, synthesize, and ethically use information from a variety of
sources and media

MATERIALS:

BACKGROUND and RATIONALE:
Students will be able to identify key events in their life dating back from birth in chronological order.
Academic Language is not discussed in IDT 3600
This will be the first time students are introduced to these skills
Students will use these skills to be able to put events outside of their own lives in chronological order as well.
I am aware that the lesson will be differentiated for students who did not master the objectives and for those
ready for enrichment. However, modifications are not covered in this course and are not part of this particular
lesson.

PROCEDURES AND TIMELINE:


Introduction: I will start by showing them an example of my own life events in chronological order. Hopefully
some of the events will be intriguing and/or funny and get the students excited to do their own timeline. (10
minutes)
Procedures:
I will first pass out the worksheet and explain the resources listed. (5 minutes)
The students should first identify the life events that they will highlight. (10 minutes)
The students will correctly identify images on google to represent their life events. (10 minutes)
The students will put their life events and images together to create a chronological Prezi. (35
minutes)
Closure: The second day of the lesson will be the closure. Here, students will one by one present their Prezi to
the class (3 minutes per student, 60 minutes total).

I am aware that modifications will be made for students who did not master the objectives and for those ready for
enrichment. However, modifications are not covered in this course and are not part of this particular lesson.

Life Events Worksheet


Today you will be creating a timeline of your especially important life events! A life event is something
important that has happened to you. See my list below to get an idea of different events to use. After identifying
at least 10 life events, you should find at least 5 photos to correspond with them. Finally, you should create a
Prezi to showcase the events and photos.
