High Court in JHB evacuated after 'bomb threat'

JOHANNESBURG - The High Court in Johannesburg is being evacuated due to an apparent bomb
threat.
Sentencing proceedings in Radovan Krejcir's criminal case came to an abrupt halt, when a police
officer entered court and informed the prosecutor of the threat.
Police officers told lawyers and members of the public to leave the court building.
Just before proceedings were adjourned, Krejcir asked to launch an application to have his cuffs
removed.
Judge Colin Lamont refused, saying he was dealing with sentencing arguments involving the other
five accused.

Earlier today, the Czech fugitive decided to legally represent himself when appeared in the High
Court.
Officials increased security ahead of proceedings.

Krejcir made wide-ranging allegations against

judge Lamont, saying the judge has been biased
and unfair towards him from the very beginning.

Krejcir asked for time to get his psychologist,

psychiatrist and social worker to testify ahead of
sentencing.However, judge Lamont says
proceedings must continue despite Krejcir
wanting to call a criminologist, his social worker
and a physiologist to testify.
He has been given until tomorrow to arrange
witnesses and legal representation for
sentencing arguments.
The building has been evacuated and police are
sweeping every court room.
