A poem begins with a lump in the throat,

A homesickness or a love-sickness.
It is a reaching-out toward expression;
an effort to find fulfillment.
- Robert Frost

Taking the Poetic Lead

Over the next few weeks, you will have the opportunity to share a
piece of poetry that carries some significance to you, that you feel is
uniquely written, or that you just enjoy. This piece may be a piece of
classical literature, a modern writing, a piece of your OWN writing, or even
a song lyric.
Based on the schedule (to be provided), students will present their poem to
the class along with a brief interpretation and explanation of why they
chose their piece. This presentation should take no more than three
minutes, and it will be worth 20 literature points.
You must provide a typed copy of the poem to Mrs. Lockwood by the
end of the day BEFORE are scheduled to present. You may choose to
email the poem in an attachment to lockwoodb@penntrafford.org, or
share it in a Google Doc. Failure to do so will result in a lowering of
your grade.
Your presentation should include the following:
A rehearsed reading with feeling! of your selection
A short statement on the author/background info of the selection
A brief interpretation of the poems meaning and poetic devices
(you should identify at LEAST 4 different devices and EXPLAIN the
significance of each!!)
A brief reflection on why this piece holds significance to you
