Artist statement:
My work challenges the viewer's perception of reality by showing them what we see in media and
comparing it to what is real, juxtaposing media's views of beauty with real people and exposing the
inconsistencies. I use photo manipulation and retouching to show how mass media and outside
institutions have influenced our perception of beauty and truth. By using mediums such as
photography and video, visuals we see in our every days lives, I challenge the viewer to think about
what they allow themselves to believe, showing how easily deceived we have all become.
