Well, Well, Well Water Proposal

Our sophisticated water company Well, Well, Well provides water to those who cannot afford
or are unable to get it. We mostly provide to those in Africa since theyre in a water crisis. 59% of the
world's population had access to adequate sanitation systems, says Lori Lewis in Rural and Urban
Issues in Africa. Thats the whole world were talking about. Only a small percent of that is the clean
water that Africa has available to them. Nearly 1 billion people don't have access to clean, safe water
(thats about 1 in 8 people on the planet!) and 2.6 billion suffer from inadequate sewerage. This isnt
because of water scarcity but poverty, inequality, and government failure. Even wildlife is being affected
by unsanitary water, in this case, raw sewage run-off. 20 tons of dead fish were removed from the Vaal
River, they blamed the reason for dumping sewage in the river on old pipes.
Nearly 2 million children die each year for want of clean water and proper sanitatio1n. Due to an
annual Human Development report, governments are being urged to guarantee that each person has at
least 20 litres of clean water each day. This is regardless of wealth, location, gender, and ethnicity. Many
sub-Saharan Africans get less than 20 litres of water each day and two-thirds have no proper toilets.
Hilary Benn, international development secretary, said: "In many developing countries, water companies
supply the rich with subsidised water but often don't reach poor people at all. With around 5,000 children
dying everyday because they drink dirty water, we must do more." Benn is right, we need to do a lot
more.
The cause for lack of water is climate change. It affects water supply in Africa, rains that usually
come and supply the country's water has come infrequently. For example, in Durban, the dams are 20
percent lower than they were in the start of 2010. In addition to that, Durban in particular faces the
problem of stolen water. According to one report, 35 percent of the cities water is stolen or given out

through illegal connections. Africa is generally considered to suffer from whats called economic water
scarcity, which means that investments in water resources and relevant human capacity are not
substantial enough to meet water demands in an area where the population does not have the financial
means to make use of an adequate water source on its own, says IFPRI.
Our company Well, Well, Well will take our investors money and build wells in Africa. One well
can provide 400 people water for 20 years. Imagine what 5 wells can do! That will equal to 20,000 people
water for 100 years. According to ONE.org, the lack of clean water, kills nearly 2,240 children each day
from severe diarrhea which is speared from poor sanitation and hygiene. The water you help us provide
can save children losing their parents or vice versa.
The way well be raising money is through comedy. For each joke our investors like, they can
chose to give us a donation, or they can chose to give a flat donation. We are hoping to raise at least
$3,000 dollars, for now. Thats about how much it is to build a 100 ft. deep well. Since weve just started
our non-profit, our goal is low until we get enough recognition. Our website can be found here.
