STANDARD 7: Panning for Instruction
The teacher plans instructions that supports every student in meeting rigorous learning goals,
by drawing upon knowledge of content areas, curriculum, cross-disciplinary skills, and
pedagogy, as well as knowledge of learners and the community context.

Name of Artifact: Thematic Unit

Date: January 31, 2016
Course: EDUC 255: Multicultural Teaching
Brief Description: I created a thematic unit for my high school World History class. The theme
of this is A Lucky Child by Thomas Buergenthal. Although this is a social studies class, I have
included other subjects in this unit relating to this novel. Each topic relates to an Indiana
Academic Standard.
Rationale: Standard 7 means that I understand how to plan for instruction. I also make sure that
each of my students meet their learning goals. This thematic unit shows that I know how to
provide my students with the various subjects to instill knowledge of content areas, curriculum,
as well as knowledge of learners and the community context.
