Rationale Statement
Statement of Standard Seven: Planning for Instruction
The teacher plans instruction that supports every student in meeting rigorous learning
goals by drawing upon knowledge of content areas, curriculum, cross-disciplinary skills,
and pedagogy, as well as knowledge of learners and the community context (NJPTSB,
2014, pg 9).
Name of Artifact: Lesson Plan
Date of Artifact: Spring 2016
Course: Education Field Experience EDUC 230-01
Rationale Statement:
For this artifact I had to create a lesson plan for my future math class. I decided
to teach about system of equations and went into detail about how it will be taught, and
my goals for the lesson. This directly relates to the Performances Standard 7.2 which
states, The teacher plans how to achieve each students learning goals, choosing
appropriate strategies and accommodations, resources, and materials to differentiate
instruction for individuals and groups of learners (9). My artifact relates to this standard
because I have plans to achieve each students learning goals as my instruction is
differentiated.
What I learned from this artifact is that putting together lesson plans can be fun.
Finding the appropriate standard for my lesson can be tedious, but I have the freedom to
instruct my students however I wish which I found enjoyable.

If I teach a course in Algebra 2 I will definitely use this artifact. It will be used as
one of my lesson plans, and also serve as a template for putting together my other
lesson plans.
